Happy to share our recent publication in @ACSCatalysis, reporting how we altered the #catalytic #bias of the #NiFe_Hydrogenase from Cupriavidus necator by immobilizing it via a #his_tag on tin-rich ITO planar thin film model #electrodes. Thank you team!

I want to share this opinion about the stability of non-noble electrocatalysts for acidic water electrolysis (OER). I was surprised that some materials are pretty stable and can be stabilized further.

Transition metal #Nitrides suffer from severe #Dissolution in acid, causing #Catalyst degradation (e.g., in ORR) and false positives (e.g., in N2RR). In @Joule_CP, we develop #DesignPrinciples to stabilize nitrides in acid (e.g., for #Electrocatalysis). ⚡️ doi.org/10.1016/j.joule.2022…
ALT Transition metal nitrides have suffered from severe nitride dissolution and subsequent ammonia generation in acidic electrolytes, limiting the use of earth-abundant nitride catalysts in proton exchange membrane fuel cells and electrolyzers. Combining theory and experiment, we have established design principles governing the extent and kinetics of nitride decomposition and ammonia production in acid. Guided by these insights, new nitride catalysts can be rationally designed with optimized stability in acid to electrify and decarbonize the production and utilization of chemicals and fuels.
