Left: One of Keir Starmer's justifications for letting the US use British military bases to attack Iran is because UK armed forces in the middle east are at threat from Iran
Right: Foreign Office Special Advisor to David Lammy, Ben Judah, "We're so deeply tied in to the US security system, that when you go - as I've been - to several of our bases in the Gulf that what is really ours - I'm going to be honest - is British zones in or by American bases"
"Those are currently under attack"
"We would very easily come under attack by the Iranians"
Cathy Newman, "And then we're dragged into the war"
Ben Judah, "Absolutely, a war in which we had no real role in planning, a war we did not choose"
"This is what happens when you're so closely tied into a superpower that has become erratic"
I'm no fan of the Iranian regime, their oppression of the Iranian people is abhorrent, their extreme abuse of religion to justify it is equally unIslamic and unjust
Do we need to protect British citizens abroad? Absolutely. Do we need to keep our military personal safe? 💯 without question
But the UK being dragged into the US's war with Iran, surely this can't be a good thing for us?
