We integrated skeletal and aDNA data for 167 individuals to understand health across the shift to farming, representing a snapshot of this dynamic and nuanced process (pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.21…). The project was a team effort and I’m fortunate to have worked with awesome people!

REMINDER: #ancientDNA Journal club is on Friday at 12PM EST! Please join the discussion on an #ethics form created for #ancient & historic samples... Everyone is welcome!
Our next #ancientDNA journal club will not focus the discussion on a recent paper, instead a longtime attendee will be presenting. Jessica Hider from McMaster University will present the #ethics review board form they have created for #ancient & historic samples... 1/2

Our new @FrontiersIn paper led by @UCSB_Anthro's Sean Hixon shows that #dogs have been on #Madagascar for at least 1,000 years. We use stable carbon and nitrogen isotope data to reveal how dogs interacted with endemic Malagasy fauna. Open Access: doi.org/10.3389/fevo.2021.68…

We integrate osteological and paleogenomic data for 160 individuals to broadly explore health in prehistory, finding reduced stature and other stress markers during the shift to agriculture. A truly collaborative effort! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New preprint! We investigated how the immune system of wild colobus monkeys reacts to Hepatocystis, a cousin of the malaria that plagues humans. It's the first first-author pub by the wonderful Amber Trujillo (@ambrquerquetrky)! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
