We have a responsibility to protect and advocate for vulnerable populations. I'm at a loss for words as to why we would target the disability community in this way. We cannot properly recruit educators with these limitations. Nor can we perform appropriate audits.
🚨 ARIZONA: Senate Republicans are moving forward to cut down the 8yr continuation of the AZ State School for the Deaf and Blind... We are in a surprise caucus today. The community was given no time to address this and no translation services will be provided. #ASDB #azleg

“So far on this single bill, an amendment was offered the night before the committee slashing their continuation from 8 to 2 years without ever communicating with ASDB; the GOV Committee time was moved up by an hour with less than 24 hours' notice, causing the community to scramble to notify those wishing to speak…”

Try talking to the community before you speak on their behalf. You know that the Conference Committee recommend 8yrs., the House passed 8yrs., the community asked for 8yrs. Senator Hoffman is dragging his caucus down with him.
Senate Republicans are fighting to ensure students and families of the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and Blind receive the best education possible.
On the other hand, Senate Democrats are pushing for inequities within this community by refusing to support the oversight needed to guarantee these students are being properly served. Absolutely disgusting!   Senator Hoffman explains why an 8-10 year continuation of these schools without proper oversight would be a big mistake.

“Autistic people deserve a happy childhood and to be able to develop in their own way. And by the way, autistic people make friends with other autistic people – no eye contact necessary.”
I'm tired of hearing the same arguments that ABA therapists use over and over again, so I wrote a new post that breaks them down here: autisticscienceperson.com/20…

Picking up my tween’s friend to come hang out at our place. “Please be cool, mom”. ‘Nuff said, my child. @DGlaucomflecken & I have got you covered. (Ps - Will, apparently this is not what she had in mind as “cool”?) @LGlaucomflecken #MedEd #parentingtips

A bill to continue the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind will get a hearing March 29 in Senate Government Cmte, says chairman Sen. Jake Hoffman. Asked if there will be changes to HB2456 -which would keep the school operating for another 8 years - he said "watch the hearing."
