It was a true blessing to join the congregation at First Missionary Baptist Church in Frederick! This morning was a reminder that our communities are strongest when we lift one another up. I was moved by the words of special guest speaker, Dr. Lehman D. Bates of First Bethel Baptist Church in Capitol Heights, and thank Rev. Timothy McLaurin and the entire church for the hospitality and tireless service. It was inspiring to see neighbors caring for neighbors, rooted in faith and hope.

Pleased my legislation helped highlight Trump’s lawless ego branding of the Kennedy Center and that Rep. Beatty’s lawsuit got the job done! Trump’s bottomless pit of self-adulation has to stop now—from his billion-dollar ballroom, to his fascist Arc de Trump, to U.S. passports and $250 gold coins branded with his visage, to Trump branding and the use of National Park assets for the self-promotion of UFC fights at the White House! Congress could, tomorrow—with a scintilla of courage from GOP colleagues—stop the use of taxpayer-funded assets for Trump’s self-enrichment. Happily, change and truth are coming … for those Americans who are struggling to pay their rent, gas, and grocery bills are now seeing Trump’s character on full display. He is not a king, emperor, or intergalactic ruler supreme, but rather a small man who is selfish, petty, mean-spirited, chaos-driven, and full of fury and retribution for those who don’t bend to his will. He does not care about inflation, world peace, or the health and well-being of our country because he truly cares only for himself. The fruits of the spirit are not flowing out of 1600 Pennsylvania—sadly, only the dark opposite.

We had so much fun last night at a meet-and-greet with the LGBTQ community at Spacie Gracie in Frederick. I have been busy with many #Pride Month events lately, and will always be a proud ally. Ten years ago today the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando shook the nation, and in particular our LGBTQ communities. I implore you to join me in remembering and mourning the irreplaceable souls ripped away from this world at the hands of hatred and gun violence.

I enjoyed spending time with the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce and hearing directly from local business owners and community leaders. We had a great conversation about transportation, protecting voting rights, and what it takes to help small businesses thrive. Small businesses are the heart of our communities, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen and work together on the issues that matter most. @GGCCNEWS

I’m endorsing Congresswoman April McClain Delaney for re-election. Marylanders need us to stand united right now as we withstand an assault from this President and administration. I’m proud of the partnership and friendship I’ve built with the Congresswoman, and I look forward to continuing to work with her for the people of Maryland’s 6th Congressional District. It’s no secret I’ve had my disagreements with Congresswoman McClain Delaney over the years, and I’ve never hesitated to be honest about them. But what I have never questioned is her civility, her sense of decency, and respect for others. It’s clear to me that she’s running for the right reasons: because she genuinely cares about the next generation of Marylanders. Issues matter, and I’ll continue to be honest when we disagree. But character and leadership matters too. Together, we will continue fighting to protect immigrant Marylanders, keep ICE detention facilities out of Maryland, hold leaders accountable for their corruption and self-enrichment, protect workers, defend our civil and human rights, and make life more affordable for every Maryland family.

Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens in our country. Today, I was proud to stand on the Capitol Steps alongside with my colleagues in support of Gun Violence Awareness Month. We have the tools to save lives—from expanding background checks to supporting safe storage and community violence intervention programs. Together, we can end this epidemic.
