Ukraine has spent years fighting back against Putin’s illegal and unprovoked invasion. This is why, I voted to provide the security assistance Ukraine needs to continue defending its people, its democracy, and its independence. Democracy must stand stronger than authoritarianism. We stand with Ukraine.

As a member of the House SST and Agriculture Committees, and having attended this hearing, I support transparency and accountability for federal funding. Political retribution or coercion tied to grants, FEMA aid, or other funding authorized by Congress is illegal. These funds should be distributed regardless of zip code, circumstance, or party. I have pressed DHS on denied FEMA funding in Mountain Maryland, fought for USDA support after the devastating April crop frosts, and pushed for DOE funds being withheld by OMB. I’ll keep fighting for my constituents and our country. washingtonpost.com/business/…

Pleased my legislation helped highlight Trump’s lawless ego branding of the Kennedy Center and that Rep. Beatty’s lawsuit got the job done! Trump’s bottomless pit of self-adulation has to stop now—from his billion-dollar ballroom, to his fascist Arc de Trump, to U.S. passports and $250 gold coins branded with his visage, to Trump branding and the use of National Park assets for the self-promotion of UFC fights at the White House! Congress could, tomorrow—with a scintilla of courage from GOP colleagues—stop the use of taxpayer-funded assets for Trump’s self-enrichment. Happily, change and truth are coming … for those Americans who are struggling to pay their rent, gas, and grocery bills are now seeing Trump’s character on full display. He is not a king, emperor, or intergalactic ruler supreme, but rather a small man who is selfish, petty, mean-spirited, chaos-driven, and full of fury and retribution for those who don’t bend to his will. He does not care about inflation, world peace, or the health and well-being of our country because he truly cares only for himself. The fruits of the spirit are not flowing out of 1600 Pennsylvania—sadly, only the dark opposite.
ALERT: Judge Christopher Cooper has formally ordered the Kennedy Center has until 12p to finish taking Trump’s name off the building and to CERTIFY compliance

Trump’s name is out. Public institutions belong to the American people—not a politician’s ego.

Ten years ago today the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando shook the nation, and in particular our LGBTQ communities. I implore you to join me in remembering and mourning the irreplaceable souls ripped away from this world at the hands of hatred and gun violence.

People are not packages. DHS wants another shot at bringing an ICE detention warehouse to Washington County. I don’t think that’s right. Take my survey by June 15. I’ll be sharing your feedback directly with DHS. iqconnect.house.gov/iqextran…

Voter fraud is exceedingly rare. Voter intimidation is real. That’s why I introduced the Democracy Without Intimidation Act and continue fighting against the SAVE Act and efforts by the Trump Administration to make voting harder for eligible Americans. @alivitali @MSNOWNews

Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens in our country. Today, I was proud to stand on the Capitol Steps alongside with my colleagues in support of Gun Violence Awareness Month. We have the tools to save lives—from expanding background checks to supporting safe storage and community violence intervention programs. Together, we can end this epidemic.

I’ve consistently voted NO on Section 702 because Congress keeps refusing to require a warrant before the government searches Americans’ communications. Now, Donald Trump is compromising our national security by elevating Bill Pulte—a person with no national security experience—to lead the DNI. The answer isn’t more unchecked surveillance. It’s stronger oversight, real safeguards, and protecting Americans’ constitutional rights.

I wish I could be on the field tonight. There’s something about being at the baseball diamond that feels like home. Consider this my tryout for the Congressional Baseball Team next year. Go Dems! #CBG2026

Last week in the House Agriculture Committee, I urged USDA to protect the scientists and researchers on the frontlines of combating threats like the New World screwworm. As this pest continues to spread, the need for experienced researchers and strong agricultural science has never been clearer. Our farmers and food supply depend on it.

When workers vote to form a union, employers shouldn’t be able to stall negotiations for months—or even years—to deny them the benefits and fair treatment they deserve.   That’s why I voted YES on the Faster Labor Contracts Act, which helps ensure workers can secure a first contract and begin negotiating for better pay, stronger benefits, and safer workplaces. I believe when workers win, we all win. Workers should have the freedom to organize and the opportunity to negotiate the contract they fought for.

As Maryland families are struggling with the rising costs of groceries, housing, health care, and childcare, the House GOP is jamming through legislation that addresses none of the affordability issues. Instead, they are giving $70 billion to ICE and CBP without any measures to ensure transparency or accountability - despite repeated judicial pushbacks and national concern about DHS’s lawless immigration enforcement tactics. Moreover, many residents in my MD6 district continue to live in the shadow of a proposed ICE detention warehouse in Washington County which Team Maryland is fighting to stop. While families struggle with rising costs, this reckless bill does nothing to stop Trump's $1.8 billion slush fund for violent criminals and bankroll vanity projects like his ballroom and arch. Americans deserve solutions, not political theater. That's why I voted NO.

Today on Capitol Hill, advocates came from across our nation to stand up for women’s health and choice on behalf of @PPFA. Pictured here in pink are women who traveled from Iowa, as well as two advocates visiting my office from Maryland. As the mom of four daughters and someone who almost died from an ectopic pregnancy, it is imperative that we all step up our efforts to protect choice and women’s health and well-being—no matter what your state of residence.

Trump cut funding for screwworm prevention 66 days into his presidency. Today we’re dealing with five screwworm cases. Actions have consequences.

The fight against ICE's proposed detention warehouse in Washington County is far from over. Despite recent court victories and ongoing efforts to stop this project, DHS has launched a new environmental review with public comments open through July 1. People are not packages. Marylanders won't stand for a lawless, inhumane detention agenda—or allow our environment to be harmed in the process. Take the survey below by June 15 and share your views. I'll be writing DHS and want your voice included. iqconnect.house.gov/iqextran…

Shocked to hear about the assault of a member of Frederick’s LGBTQ community - a personal friend - on Saturday night in downtown Frederick. My office understands that law enforcement has obtained a photo of the suspect, and is seeking accountability and justice. No one should ever be targeted because of who they are. I will fight to ensure hate and violence never have a place in our communities.

I've made it my career to hold Big Tech accountable. In Congress, I'm fighting for legislation that puts responsible guardrails in the new AI economy and ensures companies are held accountable when consumers are harmed. This bill isn't the answer; we need stronger protections for states, consumers and families, not loopholes that let them operate unchecked. politico.com/news/2026/06/04…

Today, I sadly could not support the FY27 Ag Appropriations bill as it failed to support our farmers and rural communities counting on me to lower costs and expand opportunity. In MD-6, 1 in 9 families relies on SNAP, and nearly half of them are kids. This bill does nothing to address previous cuts to SNAP benefits and also cuts investments in rural broadband, business and energy investments that help connect our rural communities to jobs, education, and health care. Moreover, this bill includes divisive anti-LGBTQ provisions that have no place in a government funding bills. Hate should have no place in our country - and especially for our LGBTQ communities. That's why I voted NO. I urge my Senate colleagues to amend this legislation and deliver a bill that better meets the needs of the American people.
