This incredible training resource represents years of work and collaboration toward providing nursing staff with one of the most advanced medical learning environments in the country. Kaitlynn Thurman and her colleagues will be touring multiple @SutterHealth sites in the coming months to demonstrate their mobile curriculum across emergency care, pediatric services, and more. Team Ashby took a walk down Historic Main Street in @CityofElkGrove to check out the Paint the Grove mural walk. It wraps up today with the Local Artist Battle at Old Town Plaza (4–8pm). Live art, music, food, and a chance to vote for your favorite artist. Come out and be part of it.

I was proud to join @cityofrefugesac to break ground on an innovative restorative housing project in Oak Park. With $8 million secured in the 2024 state budget, this project will provide stable, supportive housing for families with children, paired with on-site therapeutic services and opportunities in the performing and visual arts. This investment reflects a continued commitment to expanding affordable housing, strengthening community-based services, and building a future where every family can thrive in District 8.

Congratulations to @CBSNews, @48hours and @nmoralestv on winning the @AllWomeninMedia Gracie Award for their documentary titled “Joe Hunter’s Mission.” The filmmakers will be celebrated, along with other Gracie Award winners, at a gala on May 19th in Los Angeles. The family’s story inspired me to introduce Joanna’s Law, which was passed in 2024. It mandates strict investigative protocols for suspicious deaths involving prior domestic violence. SB 989 is about getting justice for women impacted by domestic-violence related deaths. “Joe Hunter’s Mission” tells the story of Sacramento firefighter Joe Hunter’s 14-year fight for justice for his murdered sister, Joanna Hunter, whose death was staged as a suicide. Some people come into this world and change everything they touch for the better. Brian Rice is one of those people. A true hero. He retired as President of @CAFirefighters this month, but long before he led California’s fire fighters he was saving lives in Sacramento @metrofirepio @SacAreaFF522 . Brian has been brave enough to share his own challenges which in turn has given many others the strength to face their own. He’s been a champion for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day. And he’s used his position to help build communities, save libraries, build parks and fund schools. A fire fighter, a leader, a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend - this week we celebrated his many career contributions and wished him well in retirement. No doubt he will be riding the waves, hanging with grand babies and spending time with Liz. Thank you President Rice - for everything. #Hero
