Ed Dwight was our nation's first Black astronaut candidate but only recently achieved his dream of spaceflight at the age of 90. As Chair of the National Space Council, I am celebrating Black Space Week by uplifting Ed's story and the achievements of Black Americans in space.

NASA astronaut and geophysicist Drew Feustel a veteran of three space missions and nine spacewalks, who also held key leadership positions within the Astronaut Office at Johnson Space Center in Houston, is leaving the agency after 23 years. "I am thankful for the opportunity to work among, and learn from, the exceptional and highly skilled professionals that enable human spaceflight. As a child I was inspired by early space pioneers and I always believed that one day I would become an astronaut and explore space.
