Section 702 just expired for the first time in history. Congress had a simple choice: keep America's top intelligence authority running, or let it lapse over politics. They chose politics — right as 5 million World Cup visitors head to America. Washington needs commonsense leaders focused on results, not excuses. nolabels.org/the-latest/fisa…

Some choices are bigger than party. That’s the case @JeffFlake makes in this must-read Washington Post op-ed, urging Maine Democrats to put character over partisanship and back @SenSusanCollins.

Notable bipartisan statement on Social Security from @SenatorDurbin, @BillCassidy, @timkaine and @SenThomTillis. "It’s clear now that Congress shouldn’t delay any longer." Note: Three of the four won't be back next year!

💯.  If the House Floor was managed properly, discharge petitions would never be needed. A successful discharge petition is clear and direct evidence of a poorly managed House Floor—because it demonstrates that the will of the majority of the People is being thwarted by the privileged few. Leadership of both parties have been guilty of this for years…just further evidence of the brokenness of the two-party system—and the rise of Independent voters is a direct manifestation of this.
the frustration by House R leadership at discharges is really misguided. the reason people feel like they need to file/sign discharge petitions is because they do not feel like the leadership is representing their interests well enough.

Rep. @AdamGrayCA is exactly right: voters don’t need more lectures from Washington – they need leaders focused on making everyday life easier. Affordable homes. Cheaper energy. Better infrastructure. Functioning institutions. That’s the problem-solving politics America needs right now.

When Washington is pulled toward the extremes, @RepJoshG keeps doing what he’s always done: building coalitions, working across the aisle, and focusing on results. That’s the kind of problem-solving leadership Congress needs more of.

Congratulations to @BeauBayh for clinching the @INDems nomination for Secretary of State! Beau is at the vanguard of the next generation of commonsense problem solvers running for public office, and we wish him the best of luck in the general election.

A new study from @FDD showed how Qatar has spent hundreds of billions promoting radical Islamist ideology and lobbying in the U.S. But they are hardly alone among our adversaries shaping to influence American politics from within. That should worry all of us.

Too many leaders only speak up when the problem is on the other side. Credit to @JohnFetterman for making clear that standards matter even when it’s politically inconvenient – and even when it means challenging someone in your own party like Graham Platner (@grahamformaine). That's courage.
