Another reconstruction of the inside of a Sardinian nuraghe. This type is more common in the south, the chamber has a lesser diameter, and its usually higher compared to northern towers, it lacks the staircase, more common in the central-north Sardinia. #nuragic #nuraghi #italy

Just a reminder that the Llanllyfni Lunula was stolen from St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff, October 6th 2025, along with many Bronze age gold armbands. These artifacts are still missing. They may have simply been melted down for their gold. Two men were arrested months ago, petty criminals, but no word on the artifacts at all. It is a total failure on multiple fronts.

🍇An antique silent film showing the traditional grape harvest in Sardinia, presumably dating from the late 1920s or early 1930s. Based on the landscape and traditional costumes, the location appears to be Gallura, in the northeast of the island.

I think bronze age motifs can also evoke more than one creature at the same time. Birds can be people, horses can be serpents, deer, and boats, boats can be horses, and birds can be horses, etc. They are all evoking journeying and transforming, some ambiguity is intentional.

According to archaeological evidence, in southern Iberia, Late Neolithic communities began building defenses: ditches, ramparts, palisades. By the Copper Age, these became complex stone-walled settlements with watchtowers—centuries before IE arrival. What threat drove them...?
Researchers have found cannibalized human remains from at least 11 people in El Mirador cave in northern Spain, suggesting it was the site of a violent Neolithic clash 5,600 years ago. livescience.com/archaeology/…
