Imagine for a moment…you are driving around at work and you are shot for no reason other than your profession. That is exactly what happened to a brave Chicago PD Sgt who was shot last night simply driving in his patrol car. The Sgt was struck in the leg and able to self transport to the hospital, thankfully expected to make a full recovery. The dirtbag who shot the Sgt has been taken into custody. This is the reality for law enforcement in 2026 in America…shot simply for the uniform we wear. It’s despicable…

It’s been a dark few days for the law enforcement and first responder community. In Florida, Miami-Dade Deputy Cesar “Danny” Jaramillo was fatally shot while investigating a traffic crash — a reminder of the dangers officers face even in routine calls. In North Carolina, WakeMed Campus Police Officer Roger Smith was murdered in the line of duty. And in Tennessee, tragedy struck the air medical community when a Vanderbilt LifeFlight helicopter went down, claiming one crew member’s life and critically injuring two others. Each of these public servants dedicated their lives to saving others. We mourn their loss, honor their service, and stand with their families and departments in grief. #FOPStrong #ThinBlueLine #EndOfWatch #LawEnforcementFamily #HonorTheFallen #PublicSafety #FirstResponders

October marks the start of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. The Chicago Police Department is proud to stand with survivors, honor those we’ve lost and support the fight against breast cancer. Throughout the month, our officers are authorized to wear the pink CPD patch as a visible reminder of awareness, hope, and strength.
