this was said in 2021, the context was a president doesn't control U.S. gasoline demand, which was rebounding as the pandemic started to slowly improve. demand was outpacing supply, which dropped due to historically low demand during 2020.
In 2021, Joe Bidenโs Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said, โThe president does not control the price of gasoline.โ
