Chicago lost the Bears this week. A team that's been in the city since 1921. They didn't lose them to a bigger market or a better deal. The Bears decided they'd rather be a tenant in Indiana than deal with Illinois for one more year. Think about how badly you have to run a place for that to be the smart move. They lost them for two reasons. The people running Illinois would rather villainize a builder than keep one. And they're bad at their jobs. In 2021 the Bears spent $197M on the old Arlington Park racetrack. Before they could break ground, Cook County valued the empty lot at $192M (Bears said $60M). They were salivating at the chance to extort a building that didn't even exist yet. That fight dragged on for years. The Bears were ready to put $2B into the stadium. All they wanted was a promise the county wouldn't reassess them into oblivion, plus $855M for infrastructure everyone uses. Roads, transit, utilities. A $3B project, two thirds of it private money pouring into Illinois. Springfield had since 2021 to get this done. They dragged it to the final night of session, passed it through the Senate at 3:39AM, and the House went home without voting. So now it's all gone. The funniest part? This started because Cook County tried to grab the tax early. They knew a built stadium would pay $53M a year. Now they get under $4M on a vacant lot. No jobs, no buildout, no new anything. Congrats on fighting for scraps and losing the whole prize. Pritzker: they're "an $8.5B valued business" that doesn't need propping up. But be smart for a second. Almost every NFL city throws in public money for a stadium. Not charity. The return is real. Tourism, hotels, restaurants, jobs, game days, property tax on a huge development. The math works. Indiana did the math. While Illinois sat on it for years, Indiana passed a bill in months, put up $1B, and took the team. And the Bears took a worse deal to get there. In Illinois they were going to own their stadium. In Indiana they rent it from the state. A team that wanted to build its own home gave up ownership just to escape Chicago. Nobody won but Indiana. The Bears lost their stadium. Illinois lost the team, the $2B, and $53M a year in taxes. Pritzker after they left: "I wasn't willing to give up billions of dollars of taxpayer money to give it to a billionaire-owned family or team." There it is. "Billionaire-owned." That's how Democrats talk about any business right before they run it out of town. Call them a billionaire, act like you're saving working families, take a victory lap while the tax base drives across the state line. Meanwhile they're running the whole state into the ground. And you already know how this ends. You're living in it. Pensions are $143B in the hole, worst in the country and not close. You pay $6,285 a year in property taxes, double the $2,969 national average, for a city that's $1.15B in the red. The mayor called its finances "the point of no return." When you run things this badly, you sell what's left. They leased the parking meters for 75 years to Morgan Stanley and a sovereign wealth fund in Abu Dhabi. Took $1.15B and burned through it in two years. The investors already made it all back, with 58 years left to collect. Sold the Skyway. Sold the downtown garages. Every asset that made money, gone for one check. But a fixed property tax rate for a team that's been here 106 years? That's "propping up billionaires." Companies are leaving. Boeing for Virginia. Caterpillar for Texas. Citadel for Miami. In 2023 alone Illinois lost 56,000 people and $6B in income to other states. The ones who left earned a third more than the ones who moved in. Indiana didn't outbid anyone. AAA credit, 16 years straight. A $676M surplus. Fourth-lowest debt per person in the country. They just weren't a disaster. Illinois could have collected $53M a year. It chose zero. Ignore all the bad management but make sure to stick it to those evil, pesky billionaires.

Series rewrite: The Goa'uld have lost and their strongholds destroyed, so now they came to Earth as refugees and have been welcomed by the government and a certain political philosophy. The Stargate program tries telling people what's going to happen, but people are lining up for symbiotes, and putting out lawn signs about how "In this house..." The Stargate program gets shuttered, the various teams get sidelined and anyone that speaks out gets imprisoned. Eventually, the symbiotes take over all of the world, reopen the Stargate program and go back into the universe, and everyone lives happily ever after, the end. Diversity wins
It sounds like they were trying to, but you can't make Stargate today. The heroes are the US military, and the villains are an ethnically diverse group of aliens in human bodies who posed as the various gods of human cultures in antiquity. The one group of aliens that also posed as gods but were benevolent rather than intrinsically evil - and the Goa'uld are intrinsically evil, as is made explicit - posed as the Norse ones. That's why Stargate has remained untouched while every other franchise is defiled. Too much of the basic premise is fundamentally incompatible with modern Hollywood. There are too many uncomfortable implications. Seems to me that higher ups got a whiff of what kind of show they were trying to make, and that show being Stargate, put the kibosh on it. The "fresh new direction" they want to go with instead will have to be utterly unrecognisable. Stargate Universe is the direction Im sure they'd like to go in, but they already made that before the era of "modern Hollywood", and it was universally panned. There's no getting around the good guys being the military and the bad guys being evil on a genetic level, so the whole premise is anathema. Stargate future-proofed itself, and with 15 proper seasons and 3 films, there really is no need to revisit it. I can continue, as I have for the past 30 years, just regularly rewatch what we already have. Because it's awesome.

The show was the longest-running science fiction series in North American history. It spawned two spinoffs, one of which ran for 5 seasons (reaching 100 episodes). It was fun. It was smart. It was funny. And it was cool. Calling Stargate "too niche" is like describing Chicago as a "small city" because it's not as big as New York.
As always, I can’t find the words. So I’ll share Joe’s He’s the writer for a reason 🥹

Amazon axing the new STARGATE series because it was supposedly too niche is such a frustrating executive decision. This is STARGATE. The original movie launched in 1994. STARGATE SG-1 ran for 10 seasons. STARGATE ATLANTIS ran for five more. Fans have kept this franchise alive for decades. Martin Gero, who wrote on SG-1 and ATLANTIS, was developing the new series. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi were consulting producers. People who understood the franchise were involved. And Amazon apparently got nervous that the show would appeal too much to STARGATE fans. That is insane. Die-hard fans are not the problem. They are the bridge. They tell friends to watch. They explain the premise. They build word of mouth before casual audiences ever show up. Studios keep wanting legacy IP without the people who actually love it. But that “baggage” is the audience. STARGATE does not need to be sanded down for everyone. It needs to be good enough that fans bring everyone else in.

You honestly cannot make this shit up… The UN official responsible for issuing the report falsely accusing Israel of rape charges and blacklisting Israel admits she not only hasn’t seen a single dot of evidence to support her claims, but that it’s not not her or her office’s job to verify anything in the very report she and her office wrote. The UN is so corrupt, and the world is so anaesthetized to this corruption, that the UN now commits all its corruption brazenly and in the open without any shame whatsoever. Can the world please just shut down this damned Nazi organization already?? x.com/UNWatch/status/2060406…

They keep circulating the same old clips of Bibi Netanyahu warning that Iran is “months away” from a nuclear bomb, 1992, 2002, 2009, 2012, over and over. The useful idiots laugh: “See? He’s been lying for 40 years!” No. Bibi didn’t lie. Iran was close every single time, and every single time, Israel stopped them. • 2010: Israel and the US unleash Stuxnet, the first cyber weapon in history. It destroys over 1,000 centrifuges at Natanz and sets Iran’s program back years. • 2010–2020: Mossad systematically assassinates Iran’s top nuclear scientists, one after another, in the heart of Tehran. • 2018: Netanyahu reveals the secret “nuclear archive” Mossad stole straight out of a Tehran warehouse, proving Iran lied and never stopped its weapons program. • 2020–2021: Multiple sabotage operations blow up Natanz, explosions, blackouts, entire centrifuge halls wiped out. • 2021: Israeli drones hit the Karaj centrifuge manufacturing facility. • 2024–2025: Direct Israeli strikes hammer Iran’s nuclear and military sites, assassinating key commanders and scientists. Every warning Bibi gave was a call to action, and Israel answered it. If it wasn’t for Bibi's voice, Israel’s intelligence, and Israel’s willingness to act when the world refused, Iran would have had the bomb a decade ago. The people mocking the old clips are exposing how much they hate the one country that actually stopped the world’s most dangerous regime from going nuclear. Without Bibi, and without Israel, we’d already be living in a world where the Islamic Republic has nukes.

California voters are insane. You've lost the plot if you think Karen Bass deserves another term or Gavin Newsom did a good job. Spending $37B on homelessness and it just gets worse. That's 200K a head. You could literally buy each of them a house in the bible belt and still have money left over. Stop spending more. It's getting grifted by builders, charities and administrators. Voters wanted a high speed train from LA to SF. Passed a bill for $33B in 2008. 18 years later, ZERO miles built. $13B spent. New budget $231B. Japan built theirs in 1964. China has laid 28,000 miles of track since. WE STILL HAVE NO TRAIN. How are we this incompetent? Where is the money? You pay the highest income tax in the country. Gas is $2 over the national average. Electricity is double. That's not iran bud. LOL. That's your wasted tax dollars and failed policies at work. Can't even get PG&E to fix their powerlines so more homes don't burn down. 1.5M ppl have left the state since 2020. More than the city of Seattle. The state lost a House seat for the first time in 171 years. Chevron was founded here in 1879. Packed up for Houston. Tesla left. Oracle left. SpaceX left. In-N-Out closed its first store in 75 years of business. Oakland. Workers couldn't get to their jobs without being looted or harassed. Gunshots through the dining room and they called it quits. Tourists can't stop at IHOP on the way from SFO without getting their windshield smashed. But ya, everything is OK. Trust us. You decriminalized drugs. Now SF has 635 dying of overdose and 35 from murder. Your answer is more drugs. Keep the cartel in business. Lets make sure there are needles and zombies everywhere, that will keep those darn kids off the street. And then the fraud. Highest taxes in the country, highest fraud in the country. EDD lost $32B to COVID fraud. A third of the entire country's fraud, out of one state. Checks went to inmates. Someone called Mr Poopy Pants got paid. Nobody went to jail. Stop paying for homelessness, fraud and drugs. Take that money and BUILD. Focus on wildfire prevention. It doesn't take a genius to see the stuff over the last 20 years. Refill reservoirs. Build desalination plants. Cover waterways. Capture runoff. Staff up the fire department. But nah that's too rational. Long live socialism. Saudi Arabia didn't have water. They built stuff. You don't have water and you get some high school dropout with a humanities degree to research if building a plant hurts someone's feelings. California can no longer build ANYTHING. Syria builds faster than this failed state. 16,000 homes gone in the fires. One year later, 12 rebuilt. Actuaries won't price insurance. Carriers are leaving the state. Geico is probably cheaper in Iraq. Bass funnels to her husband. Newsom funnels to his wife. The billionaires whose taxes pay for all of it get blamed. The homeowners who lost their houses get blamed. Climate gets blamed. Then Spencer Pratt runs for mayor and you call HIM crazy for having no experience and living in a hotel. Look at the receipts and tell me who's crazy. You'll do it again in June and wonder why nothing changes. Nothing changes because you don't change. MAYBE STOP VOTING FOR A SINGLE PARTY DEMOCRAT SOCIALIST DICTATORSHIP AND YOUR STATE CAN GET BETTER. Good luck out there. You'll need it.

On This Day — May 18, 1967 18 days before the Six Day War, Arab leaders openly broadcast their planned extermination of Israel. Egypt’s official Voice of the Arabs declared: “The sole method we shall apply against Israel is total war, which will result in the extermination of Zionist existence." Two days later, with Syrian troops already massed on Israel’s border, Defense Minister Hafez al-Assad declared: “I, as a military man, believe that the time has come to enter into a battle of annihilation.” Cairo Radio the next day: “This is our chance, Arabs, to deal Israel a mortal blow of annihilation, to blot out its entire presence in our holy land.” Extermination. Annihilation. Annihilation again. They said it loudly, proudly, and repeatedly on state radio — a little more than two weeks before the war. Not hidden plans. Not vague threats. Explicit genocidal intent, 22 years after the Holocaust. Yet to this day, people still blame Israel for starting the war. The truth: Israel faced imminent annihilation from a Soviet-backed Arab alliance that had mobilized hundreds of thousands of troops, closed the Straits of Tiran, and expelled UN peacekeepers. Under customary international law, a preemptive strike against an imminent existential threat is not only justified — it is legal. Israel struck first only against Egypt, the ringleader. It begged Jordan’s King Hussein to stay out of the fighting. Hussein ignored the plea, joined the war, and lost the "West Bank" and Old City of Jerusalem in the process. Israel didn’t want that war. It simply refused to die in it. While the world did nothing, Israel acted alone — and in six days destroyed the genocidal threat to its existence.

This is a national disgrace for the UK. The Met Police just forced the removal of a sign commemorating Jewish kids massacred at Nova — because they’re too scared of Islamist terror attacks to protect it. Let that sink in. Britain — the country that once stood alone against Hitler — now hides Jewish memorials in its capital out of fear of the mobs it imported and indulged. No arrests of the threats. No armed guards. Just surrender: “Take the sign down so the terrorists don’t get angry.” Cowardice dressed up as “public safety.” This is 1939 Britain all over again — except this time the appeasement is happening on British soil, against British Jews, while Hamas flags wave openly through London streets. The Met didn’t fail to protect Jews, they admitted they won't even try! Shame. You didn’t keep the peace. You handed the terrorists a veto over Jewish memory. Disgraceful. Spineless. Unforgivable. Never Again was a promise — not a polite request.
BREAKING: London’s Nova exhibition to commemorate the Jewish kids massacred on October 7th was removed per police request. The Met police asked the organizers to take the sign down out of fear of terror attacks on the exhibition. So grim.
