Wasn’t that long ago: “Jose Ferrer for Harry Ford is a failure, Ferrer can’t get anyone out” “The 2026 Mariners roster is a flop and Dipoto should be fired” Take a chill pill folks and enjoy the season and let the sample size grow

Some people just enjoy sports and the excitement of a winning team in their city. Sports fandom is not always an extension of their personality. It’s fine.
We joke a lot about how a lot of NYC folks were wearing Nets gear six years ago and Knicks gear now. And then you see literal Jay-Z courtside at MSG

There’s four legit and believable reasons for the homers last night, but sure, let’s assume conspiracy - high altitude (impacts both ball flight and pitch movement) - hot temps - dry air (dry baseballs) - wind blowing out
Vegas will take the blame, but I have another guess...🧃⚾️

72 hours ago fans were insisting we carry three catchers. In the time since, Naylor instead of Pereda lead a mound visit with Munoz Emerson lead his own mound visit with Pereda
Lmao Pereda called about seven sliders for balls before he realized Brash could dot his fastball What in the world?

Most definitely. Mariners SP depth is top of the league, but most playoff teams are going to have at least one SP that is better than the mariners SP1, whoever that is. Skubal can win you two games in a series.
Based on @JeffPassan great piece on ESPN about possible trade partners next month for the @Mariners…. Would you be willing to trade 4 years of club control with Emerson Hancock for 2 months of Tarik Skubal?

Yah for sure. Mariners don’t have a true playoff ace. It makes more sense than people think.

It's pretty amazing that the Red Sox fired a bunch of people, but didn't fire the person who gave Kristian Campbell a guaranteed contract worth $60,000,000

This is how I know we are trending towards a season long lockout. The Mariners are on the cusp of being too good

(some) seattle mariners under team control through the ‘28 season: - cal raleigh - josh naylor - cole young - colt emerson - julio rodríguez - bryan woo - george kirby - bryce miller - emerson hancock - matt brash - josé ferrer - eduard bazaro - andres muñoz

Does this work as a reverse jinx and now global peace is on the table?
Padres have designated Nick Castellanos for assignment. He hit .191 with a .560 OPS and -0.9 bWAR in 39 games for San Diego

I feel like people give zero credit to the development process. You need to acknowledge that today’s version of Colt is better than the version of Colt before an offseason of work, a big league spring training, and 169 AAA at bats.
The right time to call up Colt Emerson may have been last September.

When you talk about calling Colt Emerson up in September you are talking about removing 25% of his development timeline within the org.

Mariners bake a cake for 35 minutes. The cake turns out awesome. "Holy shit guys, we have great cake, we should have taken this out of the oven 15 minutes earlier so we can have awesome cake earlier" Colt Emerson is awesome now BECAUSE they let him develop.

Should have gone with 45 minutes and 15 minutes.. since calling him up last September would be calling up a version of Colt Emerson minus 25% of his time developing within the Mariners org. They fast tracked this kid to the bigs as is. And he earned it with awesomeness.

It’s amazing that the words “overly conservative” are used by Mariners fans to describe the handling of a 20 year old, starting every day in the bigs, after being given a $95M contract. That’s actually amazing.

Is he better now than he would be if he’d been called up? We don’t know. Was he better then than the guy he would’ve replaced on the 2025 roster (Rivas)? Strongly lean yes. Being overly conservative with prospects isn’t always the safest bet.

M’s twitter so reactionary and so susceptible to recency bias: “Let’s give a 30 year old journeyman with two career homers a permanent spot on the roster this year” “Colt Emerson is ready for the MLB today, so we should have tested him 8 months ago in the toughest environment”

“Logan Gilbert is maxed out and officially past his peak potential, we should trade him” “JP is washed and should be relegated to being a bench bat”

One is Gerrit Cole and the other is Max Fried
Kade has been the one making all the headlines, but people who know way more about pitching than I do are saying Sloan’s ceiling is (considerably) higher. Feels like they’re both going to be on the big league team down the stretch. Extremely exciting.
