For years, athletic directors and sports executives have made costly mistakes too often when leading a head coaching search. I recently finished reading Credible – The Power of Expert Leaders by Amanda Goodall. Reading this book should be a requirement for all ADs and sports executives. These decision-makers can learn from Amanda Goodall’s insightful perspective, examples, and research about who should actually lead and how to identify that person. I’ve read more than 200 books on decision-making, business successes, leadership, and coaches. More than any book, this one will help decision-makers avoid mistakes made by many. hachettebookgroup.com/titles…

This very fine book on land and power is out. I provided the following endorsement for the book: “Land has always been a source of economic wealth. This captivating book demonstrates that it has also been a fountainhead of political and social power, profoundly shaping the organization and political structures of many societies.”
Very excited to announce the release of my new book today, Land Power! Based on 15 years of work, it tells the story of how land shapes societies, from racial hierarchy to inequality, development, gender & the environment. In hardcover/eBook/audiobook. More in 🧵 @BasicBooks 🥳

Keen On podcast - @ajkeen talks to @ProfAndrewScott about aging with grace and wisdom. #LongevityImperative is shortlisted for the @FinancialTimes @Schroders Business Book of the Year Award. @BasicBooksUK @johnmurrays #BBYA24
30 Oct 2024
Episode 2238: Andrew J. Scott explains how to age with grace and wisdom, by @ajkeen open.substack.com/pub/keenon… Can one age with grace and wisdom? Yes, according to Andrew J. Scott, author of the Longevity Imperative, one of the six books on the Financial Times’ illustrious short list for best business books of the year . For Scott, aging in the 21st century requires a sharp shift in both personal and public policy attitudes to “old age”. No, we can’t live forever, he reminds us, but we do need to make the necessary social, political and economic adjustments to enable us to enjoy the increasingly longer lives most of us now take for granted. Rather than medicalizing old age, he argues, we need to normalize it so that its a central feature of, rather than an epilogue to, the good life. Wise words from one of the world’s leading authorities on aging.
