Indian elites want western aesthetics without western value systems. Farmers' markets but no farmers. European-style parks and skateboarding arenas but restricted to residents of their gated communities. Western style protests but against Trump, not Modi. Rap music but with lyrics that have no angst about caste. Pride parade but with the KJo/Orry aesthetic. You don't get a Paris or New York like this. You only get a Hiranandani or DLF.

Has India had a weaker government in its history? Russia continues to recruit Indians as soldiers who are killed but the government is helpless. The government doesn’t allow films to name China or depict the battle of Galwan. And now this with the Indian sailors in international waters. As a country, we deserve better than this. JAI HIND

The Modi government @narendramodi has repeatedly failed to protect the lives of Indians who are working as sailors and operating in international waters. This is the very first duty of the Indian government. It is sad and distressing that the prime minister has time for celebrations but not for condemning the US military for killing Indians.

First, Iranian sailors were killed in your water, and you stayed silent, saying it wasn’t your men. Now, your own sailors have been killed in Iranian water, and you may stay silent again, saying it wasn’t our waters. A strong govt protects its people wherever they are. A weak government looks for excuses. Using agencies like ED and CBI to instill fear is easy amongst your own citizens. Showing courage when citizens are harmed is what truly tests leadership.
