Her Majesty’s self sacrifice and devotion to duty, the Commonwealth and our Country is a example to us all. It resonates with the sacrifice of so many in the Battle of the Atlantic. Ma’am you have been an inspiration! Fair winds and following seas, rest in peace.

We're delighted to announce new plans for the BOAM on Merseyside today. Following a successful bid the Naval Club in London is awarding us £1.25m to create a national memorial to the BOA in Liverpool and Birkenhead honouring the 100,000 who died in battle battleoftheatlantic.org/fund…
The third element to receive funding is @LiverpoolParish Our Lady and St Nicholas on the Pier Head, known as the sailors’ church. The funding will be used to create a Garden of Reflection to remember those who died and served, in the longest running battle of World War Two
BOAM chairman @GDoyle560 said:
“We are delighted to receive this donation but there could not be a more poignant time for us to unveil these plans. We want the memorial to act as a warning especially now to Russia and future generations of the consequences of conflict in Europe
My grandad Stanley Curtis was chief steward in the merchant navy in ww2- survived being torpedoed three times and spent 40 days in an open lifeboat at sea before being rescued. Also escaped from being taken prisoner in Timbuktu… wish I’d met him 🙏 #sacrifice
