Was watching a series on
#ZEE5, series review later. First, a ZEE5 review.
ZEE5 is a revolutionary app built on cutting-edge technology. It is, in fact, a health and wellness app that happens to have OTT features. Some of its benefits are so remarkable that I have to list them down.
1.The app actively promotes mental alertness by resetting your watch history. So if you left a series at S01E03 14:17, the next time you open the app, you begin again at S01E01 00:00 - ensuring your brain gets a workout trying to recall where exactly you’d stopped. It takes a few back-and-forths, but it sharpens you. I feel more agile already.
2.You see ads even on a premium subscription. The purpose of this feature is to ensure you never get so engrossed in a make-believe world that you forget real life. Right as you’re deep into figuring out who the killer is, a Ching’s Schezwan Chutney ad gently pulls you back to reality. Grounding, really.
3.You get pop-ups that swallow the entire screen, fitted with a close button so small that dismissing it demands deep concentration and flawless eye-finger coordination. A beautiful little cognitive exercise, free of charge.
4.And the real masterstroke, even after the ad ends and the content resumes, you can sometimes still hear the ad playing somewhere in the background. You’re forced to train your ears to filter out the noise and lock onto what you actually want to hear. My auditory powers have improved drastically.
I went in to watch a show. I came out a sharper, calmer, more alert human being.
Well done, ZEE5. A wellness revolution disguised as a streaming app.
