Crazy that the most violent, most xenophobic place for black Africans on earth now is South Africa. The government has totally lost control.
It is profoundly heartbreaking to witness another surge of xenophobic violence in #SouthAfrica this week. Hundreds have marched on Parliament, thousands of families have been displaced, and lives have been tragically cut short.
These include at least five Ethiopians killed earlier in the attacks, and five Mozambicans who died in Mossel Bay. Thousands more are now fleeing for their lives.
To see South Africa turn to xenophobia is a tragic betrayal of the country's struggle for independence and freedom. African nations stood united to dismantle apartheid. Ethiopia proudly supported "Madiba," Nelson Mandela, in 1962 and issued him a passport so he could travel the continent. Other countries helped in many ways, including with political and financial support.
Disagreements and grievances must be addressed by the justice system and the rule of law, never through vigilante violence and collective punishment.
South Africa deserves better. Africa deserves better.
Stop the hate. Protect the vulnerable. Uphold our shared humanity.

There are a lot of issues with using submeters like this.

Your neighbor doesn’t pay—what happens?
Your neighbor drains your battery at night by running a 2HP solar system.
Your neighbor bypasses you and uses more than everyone else.
It’s too loose.
We already solved this so you can sell your excess to people you don’t trust.
Just one box.
You can confidently connect neighbors.
It’s prepaid metering—when your neighbors don’t pay, no light for them.
It sets maximum power output. When neighbors exceed the 2kW you set for them, they’re disconnected (allowed for surges ~40 secs before trip off).
It’s bypass-proof. The meter is in your box and exists in your dashboard and your neighbor’s Telegram, so they can monitor their usage and payment.
You can set your price from the onset to avoid arguments or short-changing, and change the unit price as tariffs increase.
Too much flexibility to enjoy ☺️

If you live in a building with a shared meter, you can install these cheap submeters for each apartment to track usage. No more arguments. This should be standard practice sef, given the meter shortage. One meter per building, submeters per unit.

I chose a different supplier to buy materials for a solar job today and unexpectedly ran into an old friend from secondary school at the car park. It was so nice. “Floreat!” “Floreat!” and we ended up gisting for over an hour, as if we had just left school yesterday rather than more than a decade ago.

Every 2-3 months, anytime the IG of Police makes headlines in this country, it is usually for one of three reasons: a new appointment, removal from office, or ban/permit of tinted glass.
From the days of Hafiz Ringim to this day, almost every IGP has revisited this issue.
I doubt if there’s any aspect of policing that receives consistent attention as this.
