I was almost frustrated looking for bookmarked images on vital examination slides.
I won't let that happen again.

Living up to its NAME - "Anaplastic" - "Large cell" -"Lymphoma", involving a groin node. Along with melanoma, ALCL should always be kept in the differential of an odd-looking pleomorphic tumor with dispersed single cells. (FNA)

Candida Albicans
Candida albicans is a fungus associated with various conditions in Cytology. It is otherwise called monilia. It is also called Sheesh Kebabs when it is seen as flower-like adherent on squamous cells and often distinguished by
presence of pseudohyphae, an elongated branching filament,or mycelium known as fruity structure. The pseudo hyphae is inclined at 45 degrees angularity which is critical its diagnosis as against mucormycosis.
Candida albicans can also be identified as small, oval, budding yeast cells
Commonly observed in acute or chronic infections and in immunocompromised individuals.
Actinomyces cotton ball and mucormycosis are its mimicks which could be diagnostic pitfalls.

Cryptococcus neoformance
Cryptoccocus neoformance is a yeast that could be incidentally observed in Cytology smears and in other cases, in immunocompromised individuals. This organism is a common focus in respiratory Cytology.
The mucicarmine stain contains aluminum, which forms a chelating complex that binds directly to these acidic carbohydrates, turning the capsule a vivid, distinct pink or red. Blastomyces on the other hand is Mucicarmine negative.
Parotid Mass - dispersed cells with macronucleoli, cytoplasmic pigment and an intranuclear inclusion. "Metastatic Melanoma" until proven otherwise. IHCs will be optional and often not needed in the presence of a known history. (FNA)
