Hoy es un día histórico para la exploración espacial.
Sintoniza NASA en Español para seguir el minuto a minuto del lanzamiento de Europa Clipper!
12 pm hora Chile
8 am hora California
T-2h53m07s for ignition!
I’m here at Launch Complex 39, Kennedy Space Center and the atmosphere is electric. We are patiently waiting for the liftoff of the Falcon Heavy that will take Europa Clipper to Jupiter in search of a habitable environment beyond Earth.
Go Clipper!
Join us for our Friday seminar from Dr Benjamin Idini of UC Santa Cruz who will talk about Tidal observations of Icy Moons and Giant Planets
All are welcome!
When: Friday 2/9, 10:30am
Where: Granite Pass 135
More than 2,700 light-years from Earth, eight planets orbit a star slightly larger than our Sun. This system was found using machine learning; researchers trained computers to look for signs of planets in data from the Kepler Space Telescope. exoplanets.nasa.gov/news/147…

Our #JunoMission has completed its 50th (!) close pass of Jupiter since the spacecraft first entered orbit around the giant planet in 2016. Relive some of the visual highlights from Juno’s unprecedented journey: missionjuno.swri.edu/news/na…

Self-care Satur(n)day! 🪐
3 mindfulness tips 👇
1. Take up space. Saturn is the 2nd largest planet in our solar system.
2. Slow down. One year on Saturn is more than 29 Earth years.
3. Surround yourself with friends. Saturn has at least 83 moons in addition to its famous rings.
ALT Hubble Space Telescope image of Saturn. The Planet has shades of tan in horizontal rings and the rings around the planet are white. The rings are more visible in the front and on the sides of the planet.
Aliens? 😀
A 1.5 meter sphere appeared on Tuesday (21) at Enshuhama Beach in Hamamatsu, Japan. Police surrounded the area and cordoned off a perimeter of 200 meters until the type of metallic material was identified.

Announcing the 5th OWL Exoplanet Summer Program at @ucsc, July 10-28, 2023! Come to Santa Cruz to generate new science ideas and build and foster collaborations. Applications accepted from Feb 15-Mar 10, with more details at: owl.ucsc.edu/summer/
The #JunoMission spacecraft successfully completed its 47th close pass by Jupiter on Dec. 14, but an on-board computer issue disrupted the downlink of data collected during the pass. Juno is healthy, and the team expects to complete the full downlink soon: missionjuno.swri.edu/news/ju…
ALT An illustration of Juno in orbit around Jupiter. The spacecraft has three large solar arrays that extend radially from the center of the spacecraft in a fan-like pattern. Jupiter can be seen in the background with its colorful cloud bands and swirling storms in its atmosphere.
Finally got around to uploading the 12-year HR 8799 time lapse onto my website. You can now download it here: jasonwang.space/orbits!
Thanks to @AstroWrt for reducing the new data (and check out his paper arxiv.org/abs/2210.14213)
Only two years to start a new interplanetary journey 🚀, destination the icy world Europa. It may sound like a lot, but missions like these take decades to go from an idea to a real spacecraft that flies in space. #GoEuropaClipper
Two years until the three-week launch period opens for @EuropaClipper - we have made great progress and still have much to do to get ready. Thankfully, we have a fantastic team! #DareMightyThingsTogether#GoEuropaClipper 🚀
Did y’all see this? It seems as if Juno mission control forgot to flip the camera and it took yet another picture of Jupiter, instead of Europa. Are those vortices on ice?
IMPACT SUCCESS! Watch from #DARTMIssion’s DRACO Camera, as the vending machine-sized spacecraft successfully collides with asteroid Dimorphos, which is the size of a football stadium and poses no threat to Earth.
