The Committee of Five—John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman—was appointed to draft the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago today. Jefferson's draft of the document is here at the Library, and will be featured in a new exhibition opening July 3.

A Somali referee who is due to officiate at the World Cup has been denied entry to the U.S. after “vetting concerns” emerged upon his arrival in Florida over the weekend. Omar Artan arrived at Miami International Airport on a flight from Istanbul on Saturday but was barred from entering the country following a “routine” inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed in a statement to The Athletic. Artan, the 2025 Confederation of African Football men’s referee of the year, is one of 52 referees handpicked by world governing body FIFA for the tournament. Just a reminder: I don't recall seeing in the plans for the $11 million redo of Army Navy Drive that the bus/right turn lane is priority parking for rental car deliveries and pickups at the Fashion Centre. But it continues unabated. These two were parked for more than 90 minutes starting at 10:30 a.m. The mall has a half-mile long property where tractor trailers make deliveries all day long without blocking our streets. There are also road surfaces within the mall property that could be used for loading and unloading cars. Is it possible that the mall prohibits this practice because its insurance sees it as being unsafe?
