It's felt a little inevitable in the last few days but I believe Dave Challinor will indeed be leaving #StockportCounty. Speaking for myself, it'll always be hard to replace a serial winner - whether that's in the form of league titles or securing play-off places as a minimum. Challinor will depart as the man who got County back into the EFL, with two league titles to his name. Two play-off final appearances, a Trophy final appearance and one play-off semi-final finish. Successive third place finishes in League One, and has never finished below fourth in five years with the club. A campaign of real adversity (with injuries etc) at times for club and manager, but both now look set for a fresh start. More to follow in the coming days.

The long pause and deep breath in between "I'm in love with English football so I went to see...Stockport" was said with all the resignation of a man who was in the away end at North Ferriby and Vauxhall Motors.
PSG vs Bayern or Stockport vs Port Vale? Pep made his choice!

Some things Nigel won't tell you as he heralds this 'great victory' The sitting councillor, who was also England's longest serving councillor died. Normally, when a death happens within six months of an election, the election takes place with the others. Reform used an old law to force a by-election at a cost of £20,000 to the taxpayer. This took place before David had even been buried. The turnout was 17% - reflecting the apathy and disgust felt by residents. On May 7th, the people of Barton and Winton will once again be asked to vote, just like everywhere else. This was a stunt that cost Salford council, and therefore the the taxpayer tens of thousands of pounds. Michael Felse, the councillor who 'won' last night got 676 votes compared to Labour's 643. Reform are to be congratulated though - they seem to finally be becoming LGBTQIA friendly Mr Felse was parade queen at Manchester Pride in 2011.
A huge win for Reform in Salford last night. The Labour vote dropped by 30 points. This is the best sign yet!

Stockport County, under owner Mark Stott, are planning to help deliver 126 "genuinely affordable" homes in the borough - using land once earmarked for a training facility to tackle the town's housing shortage. The club say that a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes would remain affordable long-term as part of a "once in a generation" opportunity in the town, 'supporting young families, key workers, and first-time buyers'. County also say that all proceeds from the proposal, which is planned alongside 'development partners' Stonebond, will be reinvested locally - supporting education and employment programmes with Stockport College and MMU, building on the Community Trust’s work with vulnerable residents, investing in youth and women’s football, and continuing to improve facilities at EP. The above is subject to planning approval, with the club also hoping to receive backing from SMBC on the project, which they say stands to bring 'significant benefits' to the wider community. Also worth noting that under Stott's ownership, County have now already invested north of £40m into both club and town in the last six years, with these plans set to add to that investment in the borough. Mark Stott: "Supporting the community and creating the right opportunities for young people matters enormously to #StockportCounty, which is why money generated from this development will be reinvested to support further and higher education programmes linked to sport, and for the benefit of community programmes and facilities.”

Are sitting MP’s allowed to call a fellow citizen: Scumbag. It is definitely unparliamentary and uncouth. Perhaps the @HouseofCommons should hurl this foul mouthed MP over the coals for bringing the establishment to disrepute, if not disgrace. Definitely not an honourable member. Typical of the Tories. As per initial reports from Norwich City's end via @paddyjdavitt, defender Brad Hills looks set for a return to Edgeley Park - on a permanent basis. Think it would be something of a coup for County to seal a deal for Hills; real interest from plenty of clubs this summer.

Update: @ReformUKSam has hidden our post questioning him and blocked us, that’s a @reformparty_uk candidate in #Basildon that doesn’t like scrutiny.
Hi @ReformUKSam. As you're running in the St Martin's by-election in #Basildon. Can you answer a few questions please? 1. Why have debt collectors frequently visited your business? 2. Do you still use homophobic and ableist slurs? 3. Do you still think it's funny that soldiers died in Afghanistan? 4. Are you still an incredibly racist person? It's important that people in Basildon know.
