I love parkrun and have continued to support it as a runner and volunteer, whilst being open about my view that males should not run in the female category - and my hope that this will change in future. But last month I had to submit a safeguarding concern to parkrun - and make a police report - after receiving an anonymous letter questioning my suitability as a volunteer. Not because of anything I had done wrong. But because of my lawfully held beliefs about sex and gender. Since biological reality is not a debate, and our laws are based on biological sex, I’m not sure what “middle ground” is supposed to look like. Nor, frankly, why it is relevant.

I can’t understand how so many comedian friends are angry that the demonstrators who broke the spine of a police officer have been jailed. What am I missing??

My thoughts on @parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt’s comments in this interview.👇 1. It’s good that he is openly admitting what he previously called “the gender thing” is a problem. But parkrun has had years to fix it. I met the previous CEO in June 2023. Since then,…
‘The most obvious challenge is this whole gender, sex debate..We will get through that’ From @EDP24 - interview with Parkrun founder ‘My hope and wish is that as we navigate this, we don’t do ourselves any damage, that we protect what is really, really important to us, which is inclusivity, that we don’t alienate any part of the community’ ‘I think the people trying to protect women’s sport have a right to do that… but we have a right to protect participation and inclusivity’ @mara_yamauchi @sharrond62 Hard to see ’common ground’ - either men push women down the tables and hold their records, or they don’t Great story EDP ‘This whole debate’ - what a dismissive phrase edp24.co.uk/news/national/26…

edp24.co.uk/news/national/26… parkrun founder wants "to protect participation and inclusivity." There are 3 parkrun categories in which males can register. Allowing them into the Female category as well excludes women and reduces participation. It's not complicated.
1/ Women and girls deserve fairness, regardless of whether they compete at an elite level or participate recreationally at a grassroots level. parkrun receive public funding to increase female participation but permit males to register as "female gender" @parkrunUK @HallisseyC

Indian scientists ‘see red’ over a reincarnation discussion at the IIT Mandi conference on Mind, Brain and Consciousness at which I spoke last week (see below). There was a breakout session on reincarnation, near death and out-of-body experiences which I didn’t attend. But I do believe reincarnation, NDE and OOBs are possible. Consciousness in the Orch OR theory occurs at the level of spacetime geometry, normally between the ears. But when the brain and body fail it is conceivable the quantum information dissipates but remains entangled as a ‘Quantum soul’. researchgate.net/publication… There’s a fair amount of evidence from pediatric psychiatry. Kids recount details of past lives which sometimes correspond with birthmarks related to the cause of death. I’m offering to debate any of the incensed Indian scientists, possibly at The Science of Consciousness conference in San Diego in October. tsc2026.org/ on whether reincarnation is scientifically possible. Let’s see if they chicken out like @davidchalmers42 @anilkseth and Christof Koch have. newindianexpress.com/amp/sto…

No one wants to harm Parkrun @parkrunUK it is a fabulous event. I’m spent my life trying to get people more active. That will carry on. My point is a simply one of fairness & equality. 28 women’s records are held by men, over 200 1st places in the women’s category have gone to men. More every weekend. It’s demoralising for those women wanting those places & records. This only goes one way. Women just want their own course records & places based on the reality of biological sex, which matters in physical activity. There are ways that extra categories can be added. So records & places remain, which is what the vast majority want to happen, which proves there is a competitive element to Parkrun as it stands. Hence a 30k petition to bring them back. Everyone runs together dresses as makes them happy. Non of that changes but simply enable a fair female category for females please?

The Serious People are putting on pained expressions and wondering why college students don't read anymore, but I doubt they've ever considered that maybe it's because high school English is now devoted to themes like "Inequality" (as at my son's school) instead of, you know, poems and novels.

Streeting has gone quite mad by blaming X for the Belfast riots and demanding it pays to repair. Remember the Brixton riots of 1981? 28 buildings burned to the ground, another 120 damaged, 117 police cars destroyed, 300 officers hurt. Who would Wes blame? The telephone?

Why don't you set up a business making rockets, electric cars and AI, Lewis? It's obviously so easy to do, anyone can do it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

🚨 WHEN FORMER SPY CHIEFS MI6 START WARNING THE COUNTRY, PEOPLE LISTEN Sir Richard Dearlove did not mince his words. Britain, he says, is being governed by a "bunch of students" who fail to grasp the dangers facing the world. His concern is not party politics. It is national security. And when a former head of MI6 openly questions whether the government understands the scale of the threats ahead, that should concern everyone. Because intelligence chiefs rarely speak this bluntly unless they believe something has gone badly wrong. @TVKev
