Life is funny. A few years ago I was working on a national tech transformation for a 5 star resort group, earning more money than I ever thought I would and sitting comfortably in the highest tax bracket. On paper, it looked like I’d “made it.” Now I’m in the lowest tax bracket, working reception at a beachfront hotel in a small regional town, and I can honestly say I’ve never felt more content. Turns out, I don’t miss the prestige nearly as much as I thought I would. What I love now is the humanity of my work. I love welcoming tired travellers after a long drive. Solving real problems for real people in real time. Remembering the guest who likes extra towels, or the couple celebrating their anniversary, or noticing from someone’s micro expressions whether they want a warm chat or just a quick, seamless check in after a hard day. The details matter. People matter. There’s something deeply fulfilling about making someone feel genuinely looked after. And when my shift ends, it ends. I don’t carry work stress home with me anymore. I sleep peacefully. I have a wonderful boss. My job pays the bills. I get time and energy to work on the thing I’m truly passionate about, the podcast. And every day I get to live beside the ocean in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Funny how life works sometimes. The version of success I chased in my 30s looks very different to the version that actually brings me peace. These days, I think wealth might just be sleeping well, breathing deeply, having time for what you love, and not dreading Monday morning. Thank you, Satoshi. 🧡

I've noticed a peculiar thing about myself. Every time I catch a spider in the house and release the little guy outside, I send him off with a cheerful "on your bike." Not sure what's stranger... talking to spiders, or doing it in fluent Australian.

So, I've started writing a fictional children's book... one for little kids and big kids alike. I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet, for now it's purely a creative outlet. It's a story about an alien who comes to Earth to learn how money works, and gets shown all the different options we humans have. He asks innocent little questions that somehow lead to surprisingly deep answers. It's cute, endearing, a touch funny, and lighthearted. And I'd be lying if I said @Conza wasn't haunting the back of my creative mind, scaring me half to death about whether I'm explaining money right. 😂

I love reading contracts. American contracts are always a little funny to me. Australian contracts tend to say what they mean. American contracts say what they mean, what they don't mean, what they might mean, what a reasonable person might think they mean, and then indemnify everyone just in case. 😂

🚨 Tax specialists have uncovered a sleeper clause in the federal budget bill designed to quietly inflate investor tax bills — and it's a rort. The bill which passed the lower house yesterday, introduces a mandatory "loss-ordering" mechanism for the first time in Australian tax history. Instead of cherry-picking how losses offset gains, investors will now be forced to burn through their oldest gains first — stripping away the 50% CGT discount and leaving newer gains fully exposed to the punishing new cost-base indexation regime from July 1, 2027. Say you bought shares in 2018 and again in 2024. You sell both at a gain, but you also have losses to offset. Previously, you'd apply those losses to your 2018 gains first — which already qualify for the 50% CGT discount, meaning less of them are taxable anyway. Under the new rules, you're forced to do exactly that — exhausting the discounted gains first and leaving your 2024 gains fully exposed to the new, harsher indexation rules. You end up paying more. This isn't an oversight. It's a deliberate revenue grab buried in fine print

A little glow-up for The Honest Money Show 🧡 Same soul, just a touch sharper. We've kept the original logo (you know the one) but gave it a cuter polish, and the YouTube channel's had a quiet refresh too. A few things we're leaning into as we head into year two: → More grounded titles and thumbnails. No clickbait, no fear-mongering, no "you won't BELIEVE what this means for Bitcoin." Just honest, clear signposts to what's actually in each episode. → Better production. We're investing in sharper editing and a new weekly 10-minute "best bit" from each episode, so there's something worth your time whether you've got an hour or ten minutes. The whole point of this show has always been honest conversations about money. That doesn't change. If anything, we're doubling down on it. Thanks for being here. 🧡

A bunch of unknown plebs who are doing the proof of work day-in-day-out, like * @Proxy18387764 (for orangepilling the left, right and center in France) * @JakeLangenkamp (for quietly warming central bankers and nation state govts to Bitcoin) * @kiwiskivi (for putting Bitcoin on NZ's energy policy agenda) * @ishabisinia (for onboarding 50 charities to Bitcoin) * @tim_niemeyer_ (a school teacher who set up IBC) * @ABCundrstandBTC (running monthly treasure hunts to onboard businesses and new plebs in Buena Vista) * Bipin Patel (not on X), who is helping stabilizing the grid of Sweden with 14 MW of ASICS Kenji Tateiwa (not on X) who got the world's 5th largest utility to do Bitcoin mining and many more.

*typo on the years 🙏 It was TWO years. Sigh... 😮‍💨
Seven years ago, @RobinSeyr was just a guy talking about Bitcoin into a microphone, convinced no one was really listening. 🎙️ Imposter syndrome. Brutal bear markets. The quiet doubt every creator knows. "Why am I even doing this?" He kept showing up anyway. Today he's one of the most recognisable voices in Bitcoin, building real products that help people protect what they've earned. This week he sat down with us on @honestmoneyshow to talk about all of it: the failures, the persistence, the lessons no one warns you about, and why showing up when it's hard is the whole game. If you've been thinking about starting a podcast but need to get off zero, this one's for you.🧡 ▶️ youtu.be/3jPA1xUwCHM

For those outside Australia, here's the speedrun of Australians vs. The State: 🖨️ State prints money relentlessly 😐 Aussies watch their savings shrink 🟠 Aussies buy Bitcoin to stop the bleeding 📜 State taxes them for noticing 🎭 Uses "Australian business" as a red herring 🔁 State wishes to use the proceeds to fund... more of the thing that started this You debased the currency. We found an exit. So you taxed the exit. Bold strategy. #auspol
Bitcoin or Australian businesses? Labor’s tax reforms ask a simple question: should the tax system encourage speculation or productive investment that helps grow the Australian economy? We’re choosing productivity #auspol

Let me tell you about my day... I woke up to a message from Gary Cardone responding to my "I need a mentor" tweet. I'm now teeing up a live session with a Bitcoiner. I've never done a livestream before, but apparently that's who I am now. Had steak and eggs for breakfast, then spent the afternoon lying on the beach reading Hoppe. And shortly I'm meeting a random Bitcoiner from Tasmania whose profile picture is a pig's snout. How do you even begin to explain this to a normal person? "Today I got a tweet from a Cardone, read political philosophy on the beach, scheduled a livestream with a stranger from the internet, and I'm off to meet someone known primarily by their pig-snout avatar." The weirdest part? This all feels completely normal now.
