In other words: AI does not know how to generate entropy and it is a form of incest that is unavoidably degenerating.
You have noticed it. ChatGPT feels dumber than it used to. Your prompts that worked six months ago produce worse results now. The writing sounds flatter. The ideas sound safer. The internet itself feels like it is shrinking. Every article reads the same. Every email sounds the same. Every answer sounds like it was written by the same voice. You thought it was you. It is not you. Researchers at Oxford and Cambridge published a paper in Nature proving what is happening. They call it Model Collapse. Here is the mechanism in one sentence. AI trained on AI-generated data gets dumber every generation until it forgets what real human data looked like. The internet is filling with AI-generated content. Blog posts. Articles. Reviews. Comments. Social media. AI companies scrape the internet to train the next generation of models. Which means the next generation of AI is being trained on the output of the current generation. Each cycle loses information. Not randomly. It loses the rarest, most unusual, most creative parts first. The researchers call these the "tails of the distribution." The weird ideas. The unexpected perspectives. The things that made the internet feel human. Those disappear first. What remains is the average. The safe. The expected. The bland. Then the next generation trains on that. And loses more. And the next generation trains on that. And loses more. The researchers proved this is not a slow decline. Major degradation happens within just a few iterations. Even when some of the original human data is preserved. They tested it on large language models. On image generators. On statistical models. The pattern was the same every time. The output converges toward a narrow, flattened version of reality that looks nothing like the original data. The lead researcher put it plainly. "Large language models are like fire. A useful tool. But one that pollutes the environment." The pollution is invisible. You cannot see which sentence on the internet was written by a human and which was written by AI. Neither can the AI that is about to train on it. And once the tails are gone, they do not come back. The damage is irreversible. This is not a prediction anymore. It is a diagnosis. The internet you grew up on was built by humans writing things no algorithm would have written. Strange, personal, imperfect, alive. That internet is being diluted. One generation of AI at a time. And the models trained on what remains are learning a smaller and smaller version of the world. Model Collapse is not a technical problem. It is a cultural one. The thing that made the internet worth reading is the thing that disappears first.

Isn’t this obvious?
Elon Musk sparked a major online conversation by sharing a unique viewpoint on parental responsibility and choice. He pointed out that because children cannot choose to be born, the decision to bring them into the world is made entirely by their parents. Therefore, the people who choose to have children must take full accountability for that choice. Under this perspective, children do not owe their parents anything in return for being raised and cared for. Instead, mothers and fathers have an absolute duty to provide unconditional love, guidance, and support throughout a child's upbringing. This idea completely flips traditional expectations, where parents often look for appreciation or future support from their offspring. Musk’s comments have pushed people to rethink the deep meaning of family dynamics and what it truly means to raise a human being. The viewpoint challenges old social habits and encourages a more selfless approach to parenting. By removing the idea of debt from the parent-child relationship, this philosophy emphasizes that caring for the next generation is a profound duty rather than an investment meant to bring personal rewards later in life. Image is for representation purpose only.

This is why your music matters. Bitcoin is not only money. It is education, privacy, freedom of speech and permissionless access. Some teach it. Some build it. Some meme it. You turn the fire of freedom into music. πŸ”₯🧑⚑
🎡 OPJ Lyric Breakdown #11 🟧 ⚑️ "Fire of Freedom" β€œKnowledge is the greatest power, power responsibility But information longs to be free and so do you and me” β€œWe believe that education is the key to create momentum Privacy is fundamental, freedom of speech essential Permissionless qualities are the path of least resistance Liberty is a condition, freedom is a decision” A lot of what Bitcoin represents goes far beyond money. Game theory. Privacy. Freedom of speech through censorship resistance. Fair access through a permissionless network. And the freedom to choose whether to participate or not, instead of being born directly into a monetary system you never consciously opted into. None of this is immediately obvious. That’s why education matters so much in Bitcoin. 🧠⚑️ People need to understand what makes this system different, why it works, and what responsibilities come with it. Different people approach that mission in completely different ways. Some through books and economics, like @saifedean or @LynAldenContact . Some through deep dives, philosophy and making difficult concepts accessible, like @giacomozucco . Some through practical education and helping newcomers navigate the space, like @BTCsessions or @vale_dallacosta and the people at @VillaggioBTC . And some through memes, humor and internet culture that can orange-pill people faster than any university lecture πŸ˜„ @Kluckies_ and @wojakbitcoin come to mind. And then there’s us. I love how basically every study shows that students do better with less homework and workers perform better with more vacation days and shorter shifts, yet we do the exact opposite because of outdated, guilt-driven β€œwork is suffering” values and toxic hustle culture.

AI makes it easier than ever to look like an expert. Actually being one is a different story. As Bitcoin pushes us closer to a real free market, competition becomes ruthless. Specialization matters more than ever. You can trade competence for speed for a while, but it catches up with you. Same goes for music. AI Tools can lower the barrier, but they don’t replace proof of work. Support real proof of work, not AI slop. ⚑️
This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15 direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including β€œone person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions β€” talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. Increasing economic freedom requires a new financial system, and we’re building it. The Coinbase that emerges from this will be more capable than ever to achieve our mission. Brian
