In between pressers at MSG, a scrum broke out around Fat Joe and Jadakiss. Fat Joe with an all-timer on this Knicks run: “I seen Hasidic Jews break dancing with Black kids. This is the greatest unification of the city since 9/11”

Lifelong learning 🤙🤙🤙
The thing I learned in my DPT program that I still carry today: The best clinicians aren't the ones with the most credentials. They're the ones who never stop learning from the patients in front of them. Curiosity is the renewable resource of this profession.

"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band. The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September). Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.

A quick real world test of mobility & flexibility that, were you to do it every day, would offset substantial age related decline in your mobility, balance and flexibility. Can you do the Put On (& Tie) Your Socks and Shoes While Standing Test? @trainer2thepros on Huberman Lab

Something I noticed when I visited China was public schools always started their days off with a run. A school in Naperville, Illinois, did an experiment on this and called it "Zero Hour". Before school, students would hit the gym at 7am and push their heart rates to 80% of their max. Then went on to do class. The result? Reading scores doubled. Math scores jumped 20x. On an international test, Naperville 8th graders finished 1st in science (beating Singapore) and 6th in math globally. Some of my entrepreneur clients swear by doing cardio in the morning. They say it keeps their brain sharp. I don't disagree. Cardio isn't just for your heart. It's brain fuel. Exhaust the body to sharpen the mind.

Joel Jamieson did everything right and was still walking around with a 50% blockage in his widowmaker artery. He’s a world-renowned cardiovascular expert who doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, sleeps well, manages stress, trains consistently, and has a VO2 max probably north of 55. He got screened at 40 and found it. He had zero symptoms the entire time. This is the core problem with cardiovascular disease in well-trained individuals — it doesn't announce itself the way we expect it to. The markers we typically use to flag risk don't apply. No excess body weight, no poor lifestyle habits, no reason to think anything is wrong. What actually predicted Joel's risk was his family history. His mom had a stroke at 60. His dad and uncle died early. His brother had a triple bypass before 50. Every signal was there, just not one he could feel. If that kind of history exists in your family, get screened. The CT angiogram runs around $1,200 out of pocket — not cheap, and hopefully that comes down over time. But if you can justify it, it's worth it.

The fountain of youth can be found in the weight section of your gym.
WATCH: Taiwanese grandmothers aged 89 and 91 train at the gym. An increasing number of elderly people in Taiwan’s super-aged society are hitting the gym to stay healthy, both physically and mentally.

If only we could monetize simplicity in health and wellness, all these silly gurus and grifters would be gone for good. -Stop eating a few hours before bed -Exercise 150 minutes a week -Do some pushups and body weight squats a few days a week -Drink water instead of pop -Sleep when you’re tired -Find something/someone that motivates you and gives you purpose Stop being paranoid by every little tiny thing that wellness experts are trying to scare you about. The truth is they can’t make money off of the simple things so they look for ways to scare you into thinking you’re missing out on other “hacks”. Save your mental time and energy for the things that actually matter.

Finally watching “The Pitt” Pretty solid medical show. Then I almost lost my mind when they put the dude in an Aircast stirrup brace & said “this is what all the professional athletes play in.” Not because that’s ridiculous… But because it’s an accurate portrayal of EDs 😅

Had an influx of early post-op ACLRs lately. Reminded me of the importance of nailing the basics. 1. Full AROM. 2. Strong cortical drive to the quad. 3. Normalize gait mechanics. A quad set is every bit as important as a squat. You can’t build a mansion on a poor foundation

The #1 predictor of a boy’s future success isn’t money, schools, or IQ. It’s watching his father love his mother. Arthur C. Brooks: “If you want to raise successful kids — especially boys — you have one job: Love his mom. What you tell them doesn’t matter. What you do does. Be the person you want your kids to become.” Simple. Brutal. True. Fathers: Are you showing your sons what real love and respect look like in marriage? Mothers: Have you seen this dynamic play out in your own family or with your kids? Your take 👇

People who age happier and healthier tend to do 7 things: They don’t smoke, exercise regularly (but not excessively), maintain a healthy weight, and are mindful with alcohol or other substances. But one of the most interesting ideas that @arthurbrooks underscores is that the "happy-well" also have 3 less obvious traits. They keep learning, they develop real skill in dealing with life’s problems, and they prioritize love—through a strong marriage, close friendships, or both.
