Testing out sending app logs to a private Telegram channel with #Laravel It was pretty simple to setup and no additional dependencies. Now I can send notifications to myself organized into different channels, all for free.

Go & Gomponents HTMX Tailwind is a nice frontend stack. The main benefits are its: - low maintenance. - resource efficiency. - fast SSR. Get indexed on search engines asap. It's perfect for forum-like web sites with many dynamic pages.

The more I think about @htmx_org the more I feel stupid for complicating the frontend for no reason... #HTMX is a sane approach to Javascript.

โ€œNative apps are bad because of the App Store and google play. You should just make a PWA.โ€ Tell me you donโ€™t understand users without telling me you donโ€™t understand users.

I wasn't a fan of using JSON columns in SQL databases. You lose the ability to use foreign keys to enforce consistency. But sometimes, the data you're modeling is flexible. And the flexible data might need to be ordered as well! This is where JSON columns have been great ๐Ÿ‘

And since I didn't go full nosql, I can still do common SQL queries on the table. Select all titles, description by user_id? No problem. #Postgres even has a syntax to express queries WITHIN the json. Personally haven't used this as I'm scared to, but hey, it's there. ๐Ÿ˜„

Unpopular opinion: - vim is easy, tmux requires a phd.

I love #React Query by @tannerlinsley but some of its methods can be confusing! I made a diagram to help decide when to use these methods: โ€ข invalidateQueries โ€ข refetchQueries โ€ข resetQueries โ€ข removeQueries

As @TkDodo clarified, sometimes ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ & ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ can trigger a refetch, but the query must be actively mounted for that to happen. ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ will trigger a refetch regardless

For me, boiling it down to a decision of: ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ vs ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ This will cover a vast majority of use cases and has helped me understand the API surface. Hope it helps you too ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Thanks to Dom for chiming in ๐Ÿ’ฏ

1 simple trick to hover over components and go directly to the node in react dev tools. But I agree it is overwhelming to look at.
fine let's use the react devtools and find the component i'm looking f- nvm

Why is #React forwardRef's generic type: <Element, Props> but the order of parameters is (props, ref) ??? I find this confusing. Was there any good reason for this? cc @mattpocockuk

You rust people should rewrite @PrettierCode in rust. The lag for Format on Save in #typescript files is kiling me.

Worst part about typescript and 3rd party libraries is that "Go to Definition" takes you to the type definition file instead of the implementation.
