“Hard Work or Sympathy? The Double Standards of Society.” Sometimes speaking the truth becomes necessary. Today, I want to do exactly that. These days on social media, many people give the example of , popularly known as the “Vada Pav Girl”. People say she became famous because of her hard work and even reached reality shows. But whenever someone gives her example in front of me, honestly, something inside me boils. I am a differently-abled content creator. I conduct interviews and create conversations with people. But very few people understand what it actually takes behind the scenes: • Finding the right guest • Arranging contact numbers • Convincing them for an interview • Coordinating schedules • Travelling to meet them • Preparing questions • Recording, editing, and publishing the content This entire process takes time, effort, patience, and dedication. Yet when people see my work, many of them say just one thing: “People meet you because you are disabled.” And when I started my own vlogging channel, the same people said: “You are trying to gain sympathy.” So tell me… What exactly does society want? If I stay quiet, people say I’m not doing anything. If I work hard and build something, they say I’m playing the sympathy card. The truth is simple: Disability is not a shortcut. It is a daily struggle that requires extra effort in everything. I don’t want sympathy. I only want one thing — respect for genuine hard work. Because when someone stands up despite limitations, creates opportunities, and builds a platform through effort and persistence, that person deserves recognition, not assumptions. Sometimes it feels the real problem is not disability… the real problem is society’s mindset. Harsh Reality of Government Offices in India Today, what I am writing is a harsh reality of government offices in India. How a disabled person is treated in government offices. Since 1st April, I have been visiting the NDMC office continuously for a shop allotment in the NDMC area. I submitted a letter to the CM office, a letter to the LG office, and even a letter to the NDMC Chairman. Still, my request was rejected. Do you know why? NDMC officials said, “Even if you bring a letter from the CM or PM, we will not give you a shop. It will only be allotted through auction.” Now understand this—auction. Bids go so high that a poor person cannot even think of getting a shop. And still, shops are allotted in the names of employees’ relatives because they can afford those high bids. This clearly shows the level of corruption in NDMC. The government collects taxes, but does not provide even basic facilities. Go to any government office or event—there is no wheelchair available. I parked my scooty 700 meters away and somehow reached the office. From outside to inside, there was not a single wheelchair available. From one place to another, I had to move like an animal just to manage. The amount of pain and difficulty I faced is something you cannot even imagine. Manmeet Nanda Ji, you are the Additional Secretary (Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities). It is your responsibility to ensure basic facilities for disabled people in every government office. Disabled people are human beings. Not beggars. Not animals.
