Really pleased to find my first Cricket Bat Spider (Mangora acalypha) in the garden today. Didn’t realise they were so small! @BritishSpiders

Impressive amount of raindrops on webs after the heavy rain this week but I'm curious what negative impacts there are for spiders coping with rain like this. Does it impact the stickiness of the web? Risk of flooding for funnelwebs? @BritishSpiders @NHarnser

Nifty use of the nearby Ragwort to anchor a fairly large web at Roydon Common this morning - I'm assuming it's a funnelweb rather than laceweb spider? @BritishSpiders @NHarnser

Found my first wasp spiders (aka Argiope bruennichi) of the year, today. These girls have yet to shed their skins, grow and develop their characteristic wasp-like stripes @wildlifebcn @BritishSpiders #nature #wildlife #spiders Bedfordshire

This wee beastie was crawling on the ceiling in Scotland - East Lothian. A small fellow who I thought was a juvenile but what do I know. They've got good and hairy legs! @BritishSpiders @UKgardenspiders any ideas of the species? #Spiders #Biology

Hi @BritishSpiders , been a while since I posted on here! I found this laddie on my kitchen ceiling, in an urban area in North Kent. It's just over an inch long toe-to-toe; maybe 5 or 6mm body length. Any idea what it is?? Thanks

Porrhoclubiona genevensis is a smart-looking member of the Clubionidae (sac spiders). In UK, records are few and come from grassland and heaths of rocky coastal areas, such as Cornwall, Scillies Isles and Welsh islands. It can be found by looking amongst scree and under stones.
