"Freedom is not something we wait for, but something we become. It is a deliberate, personal choice, and the sum of those choices forms the civic ethos that must be renewed every day."
The photo depicts 2025 peace prize laureate Maria Corina Machado signing the guest book at the Norwegian Nobel Institute, joining the ranks of other peace prize laureates who have left their mark.
Machado missed the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony by a few hours, as her travel to Norway required a secret departure from Venezuela. After a difficult journey, she was able to arrive in Oslo, appear on the balcony of the Grand Hotel – where peace prize laureates traditionally greet the public, and visit the Norwegian Nobel Institute.

Dear structural, interventional, and preventive cardiologists attending AHA – excited to present my poster on cardiac rehabilitation after transcatheter mitral valve repair.
Looking forward to great discussions on optimizing post-procedural care and outcomes!
This is a truly historic moment. The results from this pivotal trial evaluating a fully percutaneous transcatheter mitral valve replacement technology has opened a new treatment option for patients who are not good candidates for surgery or TEER. This is a remarkable milestone that will not only transform the field of interventional cardiology but, most importantly, will change the lives of countless patients who have been waiting for a viable treatment option. Slides presented as LBCT #TCT2025 today and link to our manuscript published @TheLancet today are included. Thank you to all the people who worked with us for a decade to make this happen! @DVDaniels@MayoClinicCVauthors.elsevier.com/a/1l-xy…
