UFO 50 is out today and it's really a must play. If you do, I highly recommend sorting all games by their chronological "release date" and playing in that order. The fun of this is seeing an idea in one game and then seeing it iterated on "years later." digitaltrends.com/gaming/ufo…

Arco is reviewing 98.65% positive after 1 week. Read the reviews, they’re glowing and passionate
This industry can seem like such a lottery sometimes. Usually results make sense but Arco feels different to me
I hope this game breaks out and finds the wider audience it deserves
"Make. New. Stuff." is fun advice until you have to sell your game without a target audience and you got rent to pay.
We made something new. Our game has been well rated by critics and players but it sold badly.
We'd get more sales copying an already well established genre.

A reminder that this entire line of thinking is completely unhinged.
Helldivers 2 is still around the 30th most played game on Steam. Out over over 100,000 games. The only games that hold on to those kinds of player numbers are esports monsters like Counter-Strike & Dota 2.
The fall of Helldivers 2 needs to be taught in game dev conferences for decades to come. It is truly astounding how a company turned their GotY contender into a desolate wasteland in just 6 months.
That first month was truly magical and we're never getting it back.
