“I feel honoured to have been selected this year — particularly as the Committee celebrates its centenary — to represent the Employers’ voice and contribute to the work of this unique tripartite body,” says @KaizerMoyane, Board Member of @BusinessUnitySA. The Committee n the Application of Standards (CAS), the International Labour Organization’s key supervisory body responsible for reviewing how countries apply international labour conventions, is marking 100 years of work overseeing the implementation of international labour standards — a milestone that Employers say reflects the enduring value of social dialogue within the International Labour Organization system. Employers have welcomed the anniversary as an opportunity to recognise the Committee’s longstanding role in helping governments strengthen the application of ILO Conventions. For business representatives, the Committee remains a key platform for advancing tripartite dialogue and creating a better world of work for employers and workers. #ILC2026

📣 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐋𝐂2026 From 8 a.m. to long past midnight, the work of the Employers’ Committees at the International Labour Conference 2026 is both demanding and unrelenting. These extended hours reflect the intensity of the negotiations and the importance of the issues on the table. Delegates work through complex and often highly sensitive topics, including gender equality, strengthening social dialogue, and the evolving realities of platform work and the digital economy. Across long days and even longer nights, the Committees engage in detailed discussions, drafting positions and seeking common ground in an effort to ensure that employer perspectives are clearly and constructively represented in global labour standards. @BusinessUnitySA @USCIB @ANDI_Colombia @bahrainchamber #ILC2026

As part of the General Council of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), which brings together leaders of business organisations from more than 150 countries, the IOE hosted a High-Level Employers’ Panel on 31 May 2026, at the International Labour Organisation headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The panel explored how businesses of all sizes are navigating an increasingly volatile global environment marked by conflict, geopolitical tension, and economic instability. Khulekani Mathe as the IOE Management Board Member, participated alongside CEOs and Presidents of IOE member employers’ organisations, together with a senior official from the World Bank. The panel shared findings from recent global research on business environments and offered insights into how crisis-driven uncertainty is shaping them. Panelists assessed the real-world impacts on operations, supply chains, and market access, focusing on what it takes for firms to remain resilient under pressure. #businessunitysouthafrica #SocialDialogue

BUSA's contribution has been critical to the formulation of the Reconceptualised Human Resource Development Strategy and the Master Skills Plan (MSP), shaping the discussions and reinforcing the importance of a responsive and future-fit skills development system. Our objectives are to support fundamental redesign and a systemic shift from a compliance-driven, administratively bloated framework to a responsive, outcomes-linked, digitally enabled skills ecosystem that serves growth, employment and social transformation. “One country, one plan” is supported by Business marking the need for efficient collaboration between social partners while improving the responsiveness of the Post School Education and Training systems to demand. #HRDCSummit2026 #5thHRDCSummit #BUSA
Allow me at this stage to formally recognise the members of the newly appointed HRD Council, who will be the custodians of this strategy. This Council represents all constituencies, and we have already witnessed their collaborative efforts to enhance human resource development in South Africa. We trust that Council members will take ownership of the Strategy and ensure that it is properly “socialised” among their members. #HRDC #HRDCSummit2026 #5thHRDCSummit #ANationThatWorksForAll #PaulMashatile

SONA set the policy direction for the year ahead. The focus now shifts to the National Budget and whether commitments are backed by funding, timelines and execution capacity. For business, confidence will depend on how decisively the Budget supports implementation, particularly in infrastructure delivery, energy, logistics and municipal performance. As organised business, BUSA remains focused on practical outcomes that translate policy intent into measurable economic impact. #SONA #Budget2026 #EconomicRecovery #BUSA
