There are many fertile technology frontiers today ...but I think what is going on in biology is maybe the single most exciting.
The amount of incredibly talented people we've met just ATTACKING key technology problems is so exciting, and if successful the impact will be so enormous.
The average quality of the people in this field has blown me away. I read the Right Stuff, about the Apollo program, many times and don't think its hyperbolic to compare the vibes and energy of the Apollo program to some of what's being worked on in bio. And for everyone with family members and friends who stand to benefit from this work, its far more important than the moon.
The passion is palpable. From novel therapies, to novel deliver mechanisms for new and old therapies, to innovations that'll drastically improve manufacturing (and its many major bottlenecks), it really doesn't end.
We are all so lucky this is happening.
