Last Friday, FIU Law was proud to host the opening reception of the exhibit Luminarias: A Portrait of the First Generation of Latina Lawyers. This traveling exhibit displays the accomplishments of the first Latina lawyers in the United States since 1880.
Β
Dolores Atencio, former President of the HNBA and the Visiting Scholar at the University of Denver Latinx Center | Sturm College of Law, developed the Luminarias Project and Exhibit in 2015. At the opening reception, Dolores Atencio was able to sign copies of her new book: The Illustrious Impact of Luminarias on the Law: The Legal Handicraft of the First Latina Article III Judges, State Supreme Court Justices, and Public Interest Litigators.

We would like to thank Akerman's Hispanic & Latino Bridge Network, Pierson Ferdinand LLP, the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), and Jennifer D. Merced for presenting this exhibit.
