🚨40 Illegal Aliens Interdicted Near Western Puerto Rico!
On June 6, at 12:28 a.m., the Caribbean Air and Marine Operations Center detected a target of interest west of Desecheo Island. CAMOC relayed the information to a National Air Security Operations Center DHC-8 aircrew, who located the 25 to 30 foot rustic vessel with multiple people onboard.
The vessel appeared disabled and unable to make way. The DHC-8 aircrew maintained surveillance and guided a U.S. Coast Guard cutter to the location. As the cutter approached, the vessel began moving toward Puerto Rico’s shoreline.
The USCG intercepted the vessel at around 2 a.m. Forty individuals were apprehended - 36 nationals from the Dominican Republic (34 adult males, 2 adult females), three Haitian nationals (all adult males), and one Uzbekistan national (adult male).
Incredible teamwork to stop this maritime attempt! AMO continues to work alongside federal, state, and international partners to disrupt smuggling operations and safeguard national security!

WATCH: Nighttime Interdiction Takes Down 3 Dominican Republic Nationals!
On June 9, at approximately 11:00 PM local time, a Caribbean Air and Marine Branch Multi-Role Enforcement Aircraft detected a Target of Interest—a 19-foot Yola-type vessel with one outboard engine, three people onboard, and no navigation lights—about 29 nautical miles north of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The suspicious vessel was tracked and monitored through coordinated air and marine surveillance, with a NASOC DHC-8 aircrew also providing coverage surveillance.
The San Juan Marine Unit launched a Coastal Interceptor Vessel to intercept, guided by real-time updates from the Caribbean Air and Marine Operations Center. After persistent tracking, Marine Interdiction Agents intercepted the vessel north of Camuy, Puerto Rico. Three Dominican Republic nationals and electronic devices were seized and transferred to the Homeland Security Task Force for further processing. This operation underscores the vigilance and teamwork of our air and marine units in protecting our maritime borders! #BorderSecurity
