Today, I’m proud to announce Rosario “Pete” Vasquez as the @USBPChief of the U.S. Border Patrol. Pete has dedicated more than 26 years to securing our Nation’s borders and serving the men and women of the Border Patrol. As we continue building on the most secure border in history, I can't think of no one better prepared to lead this organization into its next chapter.

05/05: Gulfport Station Agents intercepted an attempted smuggling event. Pablo Garcia Sanchez, a Mexican national, who overstayed his visa and is being charged with alien smuggling in Southern District of Mississippi.

05/06: Gulfport Station Agents arrested Gerson Perdomo-Benitez, a Honduran national illegally present in the United States.  Perdomo was previously deported 4 times and is being prosecuted in the Southern District of MS for illegal reentry.

The U.S. Border Patrol mourns the loss of Border Patrol Agent Sean M. McDonough.   Agent McDonough began his USBP career in 2007 and most recently served at the Wellesley Island Border Patrol Station in the Buffalo Sector, New York. Over the course of his service, he also served at the Nogales Station and in the Houlton Sector. Prior to joining USBP, he honorably served in the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard, and as a Military Police Officer.   Agent McDonough dedicated his life to serving his country and protecting the American people.   Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow agents during this difficult time. @USBPChiefBUN

Gulfport Station BPA and Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ernesto Gonzalez Martinez, a Mexican National illegally present in the United States.  Martinez was previously convicted for conspiracy to distribute narcotics and removed as an aggravated felon in 2017.

4/16: New Orleans Sector is deeply saddened to by the loss of a great American, CBP Air Interdiction Agent Bob Cox a retired Marine, who passed away in an off-duty aircraft incident on April 9, 2026, following a career of more than 27 years and 6,000 flight hours.

04/20: As part of Operation Magnolia, USBP Agents from Gulfport Station arrested convicted felon Mexican national wanted by the El Paso County Sherriff’s Office for violating probation resulting from a conviction of smuggling of persons. This highlights inter-agency cooperation.

04/10: USBP Agent Kilpatrick proudly served with the Honor Guard during funeral services for Deputy Michael Leroy Jimerson. Deputy Jimerson was a dedicated law enforcement officer from Jackson County, MS, tragically killed in the line of duty. We honor his sacrifice & service.

We are closely tracking Typhoon Sinlaku as it brings dangerous winds, heavy rain and flooding to Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. I thank @POTUS for his quick approval of two emergency declarations this weekend providing federal resources and technical expertise to support territorial response efforts to this storm.   @FEMA is fully engaged and has embedded response teams throughout the Pacific region who are coordinating requests for aid. @USCG is also activated and prepared to respond. For those affected by the storm, our prayers are with you. Please stay safe and follow directions from local officials who are working around the clock to keep you safe.

US Border Patrol New Orleans Sector remembers Lake Charles Station Border Patrol Agent Christopher Shane Simpkins, who passed away in the line of duty on April 12, 2021.

03/23: USBP agents assisted the US Marshals Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force with apprehending a convicted felon wanted for first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and illegal use of a weapon.

03/23: USBP agents assisted the US Marshals Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force with apprehending a male U.S. citizen subject wanted for second-degree murder, attempted murder, and illegal use of a weapon.

03/12: USBP agents assisted the US Marshals Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force with apprehending a subject wanted for first-degree rape and one count of sexual battery of a victim under 13 years old.
