I couldn't resist one last evening photographing #CometATLAS while it is still visible. The clouds were more cooperative tonight.

A time lapse of the Oct 11th #aurora, taken in metropolitan Perth. Not as spetacular as images taken in dark sky areas, but not bad considering the city #lightpollution.

The deliberate and continual introduction and spread of invasive fish in Australia is insanity and indicative of our failed laws to protect nature - laws that are 25 years old and in urgent need of reform and then, actual implementation.
"This is self-defeating and a recipe for failure from a conservation point of view" - @james_trezise @Biodivcouncil The survival of 14 species of native fish is being threatened by conflicting government policies and programs. While one arm of government is actively trying to save these species from extinction while another arm is deliberately introducing one of their primary threats (trout) into their habitat. It is not very often that the aurora australis is visible in metropolitan Perth. Despite the urban light pollution I managed to get this shot at about 0230 in the morning.

Congrats @ConradieShannon! Can’t wait to see your research findings. A well deserved recipient of this prestigious award for early career researchers.
Huge congratulations to @ConradieShannon on winning the Jennifer Ward Oppenheimer research grant! Shannon's research uses scenario modelling to understand and predict changes in desert birds’ behaviour as they respond to global temperature change. #ORC2024 #OGRC

I've decided to put evening walks and weekend hikes to good use by raising money for the #RFDS. For those of us who live, work or play in #remote parts of Australia, the RFDS is at least a reassuring, at most a life-saving, service. oceanstooutback.org.au/s/425…

#InternationalDogDay is an opportunity to consider the wild canids that play important roles in their respective ecosystems and think about how we can most effectively manage and conserve these species to ensure their survival and maintain ecosystem function.
