Okoa Uchumi Campaign appeared before the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning to make submissions on Finance Bill 2026. The proposed Bill introduces measures that could make mobile money transactions more expensive, increase taxes on phones, remove incentives for digital jobs, and raise compliance burdens on small businesses and informal traders. At a time when families are already struggling with the high cost of living, Kenya needs a tax system that is fair, transparent, and supportive of economic opportunity. With 87% of Kenyans depending on mobile money and youth unemployment at 35%, this is not the moment to increase the cost of digital access or remove the few incentives keeping young people in the formal economy. We are calling on Parliament to review the Bill and ensure that revenue measures do not come at the expense of financial inclusion, youth employment, MSMEs, and access to essential digital services. A sustainable economy is built on fairness, accountability, and shared prosperity, not increasing the burden on the ordinary wananchi. Read the full submission here: drive.google.com/file/d/1AHs…

In Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo reminds us: as technology advances, human dignity must remain at the centre. Technology must serve humanity, not replace or diminish it. A timely call for justice, dignity and protection of workers in the digital age.

Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

📣 We called for a fairer debt system during the Jubilee. We've made some progress but need to keep pushing. Money is still flowing out of countries that can least afford it. Countries like South Sudan. More on our campaign and ways to take part. ⤵️ cafod.org.uk/news/campaignin…

🚨 STATEMENT ALERT 🚨 During the Office of the Citizen National Townhall on the Finance Bill 2026, one urgent question emerged: How will the proposed KSh 4.8 trillion budget impact ordinary Kenyans? In response, Okoa Uchumi Campaign has issued a statement raising concerns over rising debt, punitive taxation, collapsing public services, fuel cartels, and the growing cost of living. The coalition warns that Kenyans are being asked to carry a heavier burden even as corruption, wastage, and inequality continue unchecked. Read the full statement here: drive.google.com/file/d/16gV…

As the Church prepares for Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical on #AI and human dignity, we are reminded of Rerum Novarum (1891), the foundation of Catholic Social Teaching that shaped Justice & Peace work globally. Just as the Church responded to the Industrial Revolution, it now speaks to the ethical challenges of the digital age. #HumanDignity @kccbSocialComms @VaticanNews

Bid farewell to the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen, following the successful conclusion of his tour of duty as the representative of the Holy See in Kenya. Over the past seven years, Archbishop van Megen has played a significant role in strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between Kenya and the Holy See. During his tenure, Kenya took the historic step of appointing, for the first time, a resident ambassador to the Vatican, further elevating the cordial relations between our two states. Conveyed best wishes to the Apostolic Nuncio as he embarks on his next assignment, and expressed appreciation for his dedicated service and contribution to the enduring partnership between Kenya and the Holy See.

| KCCB Press statement | “…We have also watched with consternation as political goons disrupting meetings and desecrating places of worship, making utterances that demean the dignity of high public offices. We continue to see and hear abuse, insults and messages of hate hurled by our political leaders at each other. We cannot afford to degenerate into the primitive culture of goons, but rather must uphold righteous leadership in democracy…”
