In order for the City of Detroit to properly build and sustain population growth, we need a Right of Self Determination agenda.
Former Whitmer growth chief Hillary Doe is leading this Move Detroit effort, which is collaborating with different organizations, Dan Gilbert says. He’s matching every dollar contributed by partner organizations, he says. The group is announcing a neighborhood ambassador program.

We can start by reexamining the restrictive and regressive preemption laws at the state level - which has, by design, kept Detroit in arrested development for nearly half a century. I would be happy to work with the administration on building a Detroit for the 21st Century.

This is the kind of energy we need from our elected officials on the issue of safety and traffic violence. Thank you @CMAWCalloway!

Have you ever wondered why all new builds look exactly the same? As the first and ONLY UNESCO City of Design in the US, we fall flat on both architectural vision, standards, and attraction. nytimes.com/2023/01/20/reale…

Worth revisiting our BRT/Rail inquiry submitted last summer.
If I were Reimagining transit in the City of Detroit, it would include more than just 0.3mi of Dedicated Bus Lanes but ALSO the WILL to step in the future and build a Light Rail system to connect our residents.

As of this year Detroit has less than 1mi of dedicated bus rapid transit and less than 8mi of rail btwn the Qline and PeopleMover. This is a policy failure. We will continue to advocate for greater transit investments and policies that support transit innovation.

If we want to provide Detroiters with better service, attract businesses, and attract future investment, we do so by growing our transit network. Rail and bus should be our priorities and yet we've put all our eggs in the AV/EV basket. We need better. economyleague.org/resources/…

Eliminating parking minimums in Detroit is a conversation that is long overdue. Not only will it allow for better use of land but helps provide affordable housing, expansion of transit, and it relieves burden on taxpayers to get things done. e360.yale.edu/features/free-…

Lets get Detroit on this list. Not only is walkability a great indicator of a sustainable city but its a sign that when we invest in our social infrastructure we can all reap the economic and health benefits that come with it.

A reminder that in 2014 a county executive admitted to a deliberate, multi-decade scheme to embargo the City of Detroit. Detroiters not only deserve an apology but some form of economic restitution for irreparable harm done. newyorker.com/magazine/2014/…

Detroit isn't a suburb so it shouldn't be designed like one.

How we provide and enforce tax abatements in this city needs to be revamped. As $$$ amounts for developments grow and the need to ensure community benefits before, during, and after construction, our approach to these asks matter.

According to the NHSTA, cars account for almost $115 BILLION in property damage on average a year across the country! When we negate road design and pedestrian safety, we're not only being fiscally irresponsible but we're putting lives at risk.

Even more of a reason why we need an Amusement Tax.
Detroit is one of only four metropolitan areas with a team in each of the four major pro sports leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB) that plays within the boundaries of the principal city. And our venues are within a few blocks of each other. Photographer📸: @photosbyjoeyd on IG
