We have continued to receive reports of scammers pretending to be Calgary Police Service officers & asking people to send money or pay fines over the phone. These illegitimate requests include transferring money to protect compromised accounts as well as paying fines. In some of these cases, scammers have used technology to make it look like they are calling from legitimate Calgary Police Service numbers, including those of our district offices.
The CPS will never call & ask for financial information or money, for any reason.
We have also received a report of a scammer asking for donations on behalf of the Calgary Police Youth Foundation. Currently, the
@cpfyyc is not conducting any phone campaigns to solicit donations.

FINANCIAL SCAM CALLS FROM FICTITIOUS OFFICERS
ALT Be suspicious of unexpected & unusual phone calls, especially ones demanding some form of urgent action, financial or otherwise.
Do not share personal details, financial information or send money to the unknown caller.
Our officers will never ask you to transfer money as part of an investigation or suggest transactions as a way to guard your finances.
If you are suspicious of a call regarding your finances, contact your bank or financial institution.
If you would like to confirm the identity of a CPS officer, call the non-emergency line to verify the individual.
