A speculative "Hit" list is circulating online to intimidate Belfast homes. It’s a disgrace!!! I have family in one - she's an Irish student medic on placement. We need clear, unified political leadership right now to cool tensions and restore safety. This must stop #Belfast 🙏

Did you know Ireland’s data centres are massive drain on our ⚡💦 & land, but employ very few people once built? ~82 sites total (and growing!): Small (~25): Average 10 staff Medium (~30): 15-35 Large (~27): 40-80 Hyperscale (~10): 50-200 Big energy drain, modest local jobs 👇
🚨 DID YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO KNOW THE FOLLOWING? DID YOU KNOW Ireland has 10 times the average number of data centres per capita compared to every other EU country except Germany? Did you know that Data centres in Ireland USE MORE electricity than ALL households combined? (Source CSO). Did you know that they are projected to use between 26% and 30% of all electricity in Ireland this year? (By comparison it is around 2% to 4% in other countries). Did you know that you pay 45% more for electricity than any other EU citizen outside of Ireland? Did you know these centres are why you are being pressured to cut your consumption and only use electricity at "non peak" times? (Tip: do not get a "smart metre", as it can be used to control your consumption forcibly in the future). Did you know data centres are linked to causing health issues for those in close proximity to them? Did you know that, in paying for their electricity, we are essentially paying for AI to replace us? (these centres are needed to power AI technology). Did you know the average size is 20,000 square metres? Did you know that these data centres use all our "sustainable wind energy" and that the mega turbines near people's homes are only for corporate benefit? Which they don't pay for? You've been sold the idea that sustainable energy wind turbines would LOWER electricity costs, but this has NOT been the case. It has been the opposite. Do you know so many people have been removed from their homes to build them and the people who live near them are experiencing health issues due to noise and other factors? Did you know the average mid-large centre uses 100 to 120 million litres of water per year also? Hyper scale campuses need 600 million litres a year and it is roughly 300,000 litres per day for mid sized campuses. This is mostly used for cooling on hot summer days...is this why the skies look as they do?). Did you know that Ireland is on course to become one massive data centre due to the demands of ever growing AI technology and usage? Essentially for all interest and purposes AI will replace humans in many respects. Facebook (Meta) laid off several hundred employees last week. But not before using those employees to train AI to replace them. Did you know that the virus like expansion of data centres underscores a lie that is going unchallenged? The notion of climate change. These centres use up so much non sustainable energy as well as sustainable energy. So once again...don't get that flight to Spain or drive your petrol or diesel car as you could destroy the planet. But nevermind all those data centres... This is why YOUR bills are unaffordable. This is WHY 300,000 families and individuals are in electricity arrears. Why are we paying for huge multinationals who make billions and produce nothing? Why is the government allowing this? (because they work for them, not us). We are being screwed a thousand ways to Sunday and back. It is criminal.

I agree 💯. we were told recently that 60k children are exempt from Irish in scools. I feel that knowing our National Anthem - Amhrán na bhFiann would be a great step in understanding and accepting who we are, and opening a pathway to integration.
Aontú Cork councillor calls for the teaching and singing of Amhrán na bhFiann to be made compulsory in schools. independent.ie/county/cork/c…

Making a point/photo op is one thing....fighting the uniform? Is I'll informed 😕
This is the moment it kicked off in the Basque airport. You can see the flotilla activists made a line across the exit that blocked other passengers. The police tried to make a space for them to get through. The protester shoved the police and it started.

Looking for Irish insurers/brokers who know the difference between grey imports & EU-built cars exported/re-imported. 2017 VW Polo (EU VIN-WVW), not JDM. Irish reg since 2023-priced as high-risk? More #RipoffIreland? @InsuranceIre @BrokersIreland @RSAIreland

All Insurers use vehicle Look-up data to quote. Import detail is ALWAYS presented: Yes/No. So their quote is based on this. Before purchase, you have to sign a declaration to say your car is not an import. If it is, the price goes up! @InsuranceIre @BrokersIreland @RSAIreland

I don't have children, but even I'm incensed by this waste 😳. Finish the hospital, provide services. Use out taxes properly! Parents - it's time to rise up!
Nice work if you can get it 😄 Eight senior teachers at a Dublin Secondary School, went on trips costing €28,000, to a tropical island in the Caribbean to attend a week-long 'Diversity, Inclusion and Mindfulness, retreat

Sad to see @SeanKyneGalway topping the polls. Elected rep's are entrusted with shaping public mood, signalling acceptable boundaries & upholding the rule of law. Public office does not entitle anyone to advocate violence/use inflammatory rhetoric against Ireland's people.
The Brits went out to vote yesterday and sent a strong message to the government party. Meanwhile in Ireland, a government politician who said the state should hand out beatings to people who protest migration is leading the polls.

Genuine question for @TENI @CancerIreland @BreastCancerIre @HSELive Was any consideration given to how imagery resembling mastectomy scars might affect women recovering from breast cancer surgery and trauma? Intent matters. But so does sensitivity. Most scars carry grief 😔
TENI- A publicly funded NGO has a range of cards on their social media - celebrating gender confusion and the removal of healthy breasts. Is this what the Irish want their tax euros spent on? The Insta link to this post is in comments if you want to give any feedback.

This isn’t a housing debate anymore. It’s a system where failure survives because people are forced to adapt to it.
“A country with a €23 billion surplus and the highest GDP per capita in Europe is debating whether its young people should live in sheds in their parents’ gardens”. #HowIrelandWorks

I’ve seen "bank poor" HAP tenants with an AMG, robot vacs, home businesses (Nail/Reiki studios-even taxi) while I provided the roof. The system is far too easy to game. We need to stop subsidising lifestyle choices and start focusing on actual housing necessity. #HAP #Housing
Government released detailed expenditure data today. Ireland’s yearly social welfare bill has exploded from €9bn to €43bn. That is a €34bn increase and a 370% surge. Even in the last 3 years alone it is up €6.4bn. This is completely out of control.

Great article, worth a read! Ireland doesn’t lack money - it lacks outcomes. We’ve normalised failures by adapting to them- building and buying workarounds, instead of fixing systems. Shift expectations. We need to demand outcomes. Make performance visible Change the direction!
The enshittification of Ireland and the hollowing out of our institutions is the single largest threat to Irish civil society and prosperity. In this damning piece, I'm going into more detail about the graph I posted yesterday: why it's happening in Ireland, why the way we're thinking about the protests is entirely wrong, and what this means for our collective governance. Link to the article is below!

What? The guy who "travelled from the UK" -to drive too slowly on a motorway....lived just over the border, 60kms from the Garda stop. Could he not be one of many NI people who works in the ROI? This is a recording one of the lads made of the stop. x.com/i/status/2043840956848…

Foreigner Ryan Quinn allegedly travelled from the UK to the Irish Republic to engage in reckless dangerous driving at the fuel protest.

I'm conflicted about posting this...but there are always many sides to a story. Draw your own conclusions . x.com/i/status/2043840956848…

Today Gardaí in Louth responded to an incident of alleged dangerous driving on the M1. Gardaí observed Articulated Tractor Units blocking traffic on the M1 North after J14. Both articulated tractor units were impounded under the Road Traffic Act and 2 were drivers arrested.

As protests and Public Order deployments regrettably become more regular, is it time to ask whether Garda Inspectors should carry visible ID numbers? Is accountability in fast-moving situations not a reasonable public concern? #fuelprotest

Is this the standard of public debate now? Michael McDowell and David Quinn - sarcasm, score-settling, no real engagement. It’s not debate. It’s performance. No wonder people feel unheard and that trust is eroded 🤷‍♀️
So, Hungary under Orban was an 'undemocratic, autocratic country' in which the opposition has somehow, despite this, managed to win a landslide victory. Strange that.

Some things we should never forget 🫤
Since we’re talking about things from 20 yrs ago, it seems appropriate to remind people that the Mahon Tribunal found Micheál Martin was accepting ‘political donations’ from property developers & lodging to this wife’s bank account. The Tribunal found him evasive & dishonest.

In the words of Fr Jack.... "What's that Gob💩 doing on the telly" Imagine a Minister using Dougal from Fr Ted, to explain reasoning around the erosion of free speech 🤦‍♀️
The Irish government goes full mask off authoritarian. When asking about disinformations laws affecting free speec this was their response “The decision of Government has been made...I know you don't like it, but the world's moved on."

The immigration paradox #Immigration
Milton Friedman is a legend for a reason. Here he is, explaining why endless and unqualified welfare rampant immigration is destructive to societies. Sound familiar?
