Strong opposition from CalChamber and allied groups stopped several Cost Driver bills from advancing beyond the house in which they were introduced this year. Legislation not moving dealt with the authority of the air resources board, employer #hiringdecisions and the use of #technology by utility companies. The California Chamber of Commerce today issued the following statement in response to the state Assembly’s approval of AB 1776 (Aguiar-Curry; D-Winters), a bill to rewrite the state’s antitrust law: "We are disappointed that the Assembly has chosen to move ahead with AB 1776, a bill that would upend some 130 years of durable and fair antitrust protections while exposing California businesses of all sizes to unchecked legal liabilities and a steady stream of frivolous lawsuits" #Antitrust #AffordabilityAgenda #CostDrivers #ab1776 advocacy.calchamber.com/2026…

May is California Tourism Month, and the most recent economic data tells a story of resilience. Despite wildfires, global economic headwinds and softening international travel, California’s tourism industry held its ground and extended its lead as the nation’s No. 1 travel destination. According to @VisitCA’s 2025 Economic Impact Report, travel-related spending grew 1.7% to $158.9 billion last year. The industry supported 1.2 million jobs and generated $13.6 billion in state and local tax revenue – up 3.6% over 2024 – directly reducing the tax burden on California households. Visitor spending increased in 55 of California’s 58 counties. #CaliforniaTourism #Tourism calchamberalert.com/2026/04/…

A number of bills identified by the CalChamber as Cost Drivers that would have made the state less affordable for businesses and consumers failed to move out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee last week. These bills would have hampered the ability of businesses to use technology in employment or health care settings, expanded the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), exposed employers to costly litigation, hurt supply chains, and increased food costs. #AffordabilityAgenda #CostDrivers #CEQA #Agriculture #Labor #Employment #ProductLiability #Taxation calchamberalert.com/2026/05/…
