Bohemian Waxwings are usually seen in sleek, calm flocks devouring winter berries, so catching one with this much vocal personality was a real treat. It's safe to say I got the message loud and clear! 🐦🔊

ALT A striking close-up photograph of a Bohemian Waxwing perched on a slender tree branch with its beak wide open as if mid-call or scolding. The bird features smooth, silky grayish-brown plumage, a prominent pointed crest on its head, and a distinct black mask across its eyes. Its wings display intricate details, including tiny, bright red waxy tips and a vibrant yellow band at the edge of its tail. The bird is surrounded by soft green leaves against a beautifully blurred background. In the bottom right corner, a black watermark logo reads "Tim Harding PHOTOGRAPHY".

I was going through my photos from last year's Fall Colors workshops and came across this stunning scene and thought you might enjoy it too.
I was out in this area earlier this year, and unfortunately this body of water might have been drained. Maybe beavers moved their dam or spring runoff cleared it out. But thankfully the forest is still there and those amazing San Juan Mountains are still there, so I'm sure we will capture some more amazing scenes this year without the water.

Cygnets are adorable aren't they... do you prefer close up photos like this, or photos where you see the whole bird in its environment? 🤔🐦🥰

Momma bear fishing while her cub follows her along the river bank waiting for lunch.
I love when bears stand on their hind legs.
