🏳️‍🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month, we honor the courage, resilience, and leadership of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and Two-Spirit, (LGBTQIA2S ) communities whose advocacy has helped build a more just and inclusive society. June marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising of 1969—a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA2S rights led by trailblazers such as Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. Their legacy continues to inspire efforts to advance equity, dignity, and belonging for all. At the Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI), we recognize the invaluable contributions of LGBTQIA2S communities to California's past, present, and future. Together, we remain committed to creating healthier, safer, and more sustainable communities where everyone can thrive. 🌈 We're also proud to join colleagues from the California Natural Resources Agency and partner agencies at the Sacramento Pride March on June 14. We look forward to celebrating alongside staff, allies, friends, and family as we show our support for the LGBTQIA2S community and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion across state government.

🌊🐚 Protecting our oceans starts here. California’s 1,100-mile coastline runs along the powerful Pacific Ocean, which is among the most dynamic marine ecosystems across the globe. We owe a big thanks to our oceans as they act as our planet's largest carbon sink, absorbing emissions and heat. But oceans aren't unscathed by this: Rising water temperatures and increasing acidification imperil ocean ecosystems. California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment (Fifth Assessment) brings together experts and partners across the state to better understand climate-related vulnerabilities and help protect California’s coast and ocean. Together, researchers are advancing climate science and ocean research to help California prepare for environmental challenges and build long-term resilience. 💡 How can we help? Take action! • Recycle and keep our beaches and waters clean. • Walk or bike to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. • Share and start conversations with friends and family to preserve our biodiversity. 🔗Learn more about Fifth Assessment: lci.ca.gov/climate/icarp/cli… ➡️ Learn more about the state's work to protect our ocean and coast from our state-agency partners at @OPC_California , @TheCACoast and @CA_DWR #WorldOceansDay #ProtectOurCoast #OceanConservation #ClimateAction #California
