Whoopi Goldberg’s comments reveal everything wrong with identity politics. I didn’t marry my wife because she’s white. She didn’t marry me because I’m Black. We got married because we share the same values, the same faith, and the same vision for raising a family. At no point did marrying a white woman make me less Black. At no point did marrying a Black man make my wife less white. What it made us was a family. The people obsessed with race can’t understand that most Americans don’t choose friends, spouses, or family based on skin color. We choose them based on character, values, and love. The civil rights movement wasn’t about putting race at the center of everything. It was about moving beyond it.

Something that’s hard to explain to a younger audience: Michael Jackson made his music for EVERYONE around the world and hoped to bring people together. There wasn’t this idea of making music for one gender or race. His themes were never meant to be exclusive. Today we have artists who go out their way to disparage others with “hot takes” or to virtue signal. Michael knew better. He wanted a better world and showed unity in music was one way of getting there. For all his flaws, I think he shone brightly in this area. People are responding well because 1. His albums are timeless classics and 2. We inwardly crave a simpler time when everyone was allowed to love the king of Pop.
Michael Jackson is currently the MOST listened to artist in the WORLD

MJ’s Off The Wall was released one month after the Disco Sucks riot of 1979. Off the Wall was special because he didn’t just stick to disco. He fused jazz, funk, soul, and pop. No other album blended genres like that in the pop world. Thriller also blended and fused genres together in a very interesting way. Name an album that blended funk, disco, R&B, and pop like Michael did prior to thriller. It’s hard to because it was never done that well. So, yes, he studied the pop charts and was hella competitive with his contemporaries. Every artist does that, whether they admit it or not, because they are all inspired by multiple songs on the pop charts. But to limit Michael Jackson’s creative process to what is selling makes little sense when he often didn’t do what most pop artists were doing since Off The Wall.

The #1 factor that determines whether you succeed in life is you. It isn’t “the patriarchy.” It isn’t the Jews. It isn’t the Muslims. It isn’t the billionaires. It isn’t the foreigners. It isn’t white people. It isn’t black people. It's time for us to move on from victimhood culture in America.

Yes, the people who call themselves 'trans' exist and they deserve exactly the same rights as everyone else, which, fortunately, they already have in the UK. It would rightly be considered discrimination if a person was refused employment, housing or the vote because they identified as trans. 'Trans women are women' is a thought-terminating cliché. Men are not women. That doesn't mean they're not allowed to present themselves however they like, call themselves whatever they like and believe whatever they like about themselves. It means they haven't changed sex. If we replace the objective, observable characteristic of sex with the unfalsifiable concept of gender identify, women and girls lose, among other things, their right to fair and safe sport and women-only spaces, including changing rooms, prison cells and rape crisis services. Women and girls are provably more vulnerable to forms of abuse including sexual assault, harassment and voyeurism in mixed-sex spaces. There is no evidence that trans-identified men don't have exactly the same rates of criminal offending as all other men. Trans people exist. I have no desire for them not to exist; indeed, I wish them safety, happiness and health. However, 'existence' does not, and should not, mean the violation of other people's right to privacy, dignity and freedom of speech, or the reconfiguration of society to indulge a fallacy.

The only flag that should fly is the USA flag. One flag for all Americans works better than a dozen that sort us into identity politics teams. It's also more inclusive.
Philz Coffee, a San Francisco-born coffee chain, will remove Pride flags from all of its locations, the company said Wednesday, after an online petition criticizing the move spread rapidly on social media. sfchronicle.com/food/restaur…

Governor Shapiro is doing a wonderful thing. Giving kids longer recess is so important, and so few leaders are talking about it. Combined with phone free schools, PA students will be more engaged in school than they were before. Bravo @GovernorShapiro
The best thing we can do for our kids right now is to just let them be kids. Kids are getting cell phones sooner than any generation before them, screen times are up while real human connection is down, and foundational skills aren’t being taught enough these days. We need to take a step back. It’s why I just signed a bipartisan bill into law, requiring cursive handwriting to once again be taught in PA public schools. It’s also why I’ve called on the legislature to pass a bill requiring schools to both implement a bell-to-bell cell phone ban and guarantee recess for every Pennsylvania student.  Let’s continue our work to set young people on a path to success — and let our kids be kids.

I've noticed that people on either side of an argument might say "read a book" and if they are pushed to share the books they've read, you'll find a highly curated list that exclusively supports their beliefs. If you don't read a variety of viewpoints, you're not well-read. You're brainwashed.
