The government is building a full super-digital regulator in Canada. On top of the online harms and social media powers in Bill C-34, Bill C-36 hands the same Commission responsibility for private sector privacy. The power vested in this single body is unprecedented in Canada.

The government will table new privacy legislation in the next hour. My post on its terrible track record over the past year, including age verification for millions, mandatory metadata retention, and weak privacy rules for political parties. michaelgeist.ca/2026/06/priv…

This censorship law is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The real goal is to enable the UK government to track everyone.
It’s important to know that the social media ban for under 16s is not a ban for under 16s. It is a ban on *selected* social media for EVERYONE. Until you identify yourself.

Mark Carney gave Canadians the only recession among G20 countries. Then he spent enough on his plane’s in-flight catering to feed a family of 4 for 55 years. Canadians are going hungry while Liberal elites feast on the taxpayers' dime.

Nothing lower than pretending to save kids from themselves. Carney has gone full dictator within a year. And 95% of the media thinks it's fun.
The Liberals are using the excuse of protecting children to usher in an expansive censorship regime, writes Josh Dehaas nationalpost.com/opinion/jos…

The Left is pushing for identification to use the internet while pushing for no identification to vote. Think about that.

C-34's Digital Safety Commission will be rushed to have its board appointed, get staffed up, secure an office, & receive its orders to start censoring us. It won't have much time for branding. I thought I would help by designing its logo.

I am going to say this bluntly You are a FAILURE as parents if you can't keep you child off social media yourself YOU bought them the phone YOU can confiscate it during homework YOU are the parent, NOT Keir Starmer Authoritarian ban for your "convenience" is not the answer

I've been asked numerous times what governments can do to increase grocery competition in Canada. For years, I've been advocating three simple measures: 1⃣Stop corporate welfare and government spending that distorts markets. 2⃣End property controls and restrictive covenants imposed by grocers that prevent competitors from entering communities. 3⃣Eliminate interprovincial trade barriers—for real, not just in speeches. If governments are serious about improving food affordability and consumer choice, these are the reforms that would make a meaningful difference.

The Commission: Bill C-34’s super-regulator decides how dozens of rules are implemented, including age verification, social media ban exemptions, and harmful content removal requirements. Full investigative power and potential one person will decide it all x.com/mgeist/status/20665288…
The kids’ social media ban gets the headlines, but my post argues Bill C-34’s most consequential element may be the Commission, a super-regulator overseeing the system with its own rules of evidence, potentially secret hearings, and wide-ranging powers. michaelgeist.ca/2026/06/thec…

I have formally tabled my first piece of legislation! Bill C-285 will save Canadians thousands of dollars by scrapping the GST on used cars. This is a responsible, costed, commonsense proposal I hope will have support across party lines.

We don’t need more of the same empty Liberal promises that have made groceries more expensive for Canadian families. What we need is for the Carney Liberals to scrap their punitive taxes and get the government out of the way.

Gun bans aren't intended to fight violent crime. Social media bans aren't meant to protect children. Limits to speech aren't meant to fight hate. Wake up Canada, you're giving absolute control over your reality to the worst people on the planet.
