Bishop Tomás González González signed the loan, which will advance reconstruction work on hundreds of Catholic churches, schools and facilities affected by hurricanes Irma and María in 2017.

Archbishop Hicks has "caught the Knicks fever!" New York's 11th archbishop joined in the joy of a city celebrating its first NBA championship in 53 years on Sunday during his homily at St. Patrick's Cathedral, pulling out his own #11 jersey he wore during the historic victory.
Sacred spaces fill an essential human need. Pope Leo XIV reflected on the beauty and architecture of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona as he celebrated Mass within its walls last week.
Throughout our 120-year history and today, Catholic Extension Society has supported thousands of church building projects in the poorest regions of America. These sacred spaces are built on the faith of communities, who sometimes spend decades fundraising to build their church!
Friendly battle of archbishops: NYC vs. San Antonio!
God doesn't have favorites, but our friends Archbishop Hicks and Archbishop Gustavo just might 😂🏀 Hoping for another great game tonight between the Knicks and Spurs!
In the Canary Islands, the Holy Father affirmed the work of Catholic ministries that care for migrants and immigrants. Here in the U.S., @nspimentel in the @CatholicRGV and countless others across our country have “welcomed the stranger” (Mt. 25:35) as an encounter with Christ.
Pope Leo XIV recently told Catholic Extension Society in our meeting with him that he encourages “the pastoral care you are offering to the disadvantaged, as well as to the many immigrant families in the United States. ...

Last night the Knicks beat the Spurs in the largest comeback victory in NBA Finals history. Pope Leo made a comment about basketball last weekend in Spain. The Holy Father reminds us that sports can not only bring out the best of human virtues, but also sports bring us together!
As the World Cup commences tomorrow in Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, 6 billion people (almost 75% of humanity) are expected to watch the games in the coming weeks. Let’s be mindful of Pope Leo’s words last weekend in Spain:
The Vatican confirmed that Bad Bunny and Pope Leo met this week during a papal gathering of 80,000 Catholics at Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Bad Bunny was raised by a Catholic mother and grandmother and was once a church choir boy in a Puerto Rican parish we helped build.
The Holy Father joked to the press that the young people were probably more interested in seeing Bad Bunny in concert than seeing the pope. Read our article about his home parish: bit.ly/4kc3D3x
Tomorrow Pope Leo is blessing the Sagrada Família’s final tower, completed 144 years after construction on the Barcelona church began. This basilica, now the tallest in the world, confirms how essential sacred spaces are to humanity, allowing us to locate the divine in our midst.
Catholic Extension Society was founded 23 years after construction on the Sagrada Família began. Since that time we have helped build or repair over 13,500 church structures!
Although these buildings are certainly smaller and simpler than the Sagrada Família, they are no less beloved by parishioners, and their effect on the communities that surround them is immense. Read our story about the importance of sacred spaces here: bit.ly/3S0auTN
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, and give thanks for the gift of Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist. Through our support of ministries and parishes many people, including youth, receive the gift of the Eucharist. bit.ly/4u7zDKp
