Libraries are so important. Where else can I do research in the town archives to discover the terrifying history and origins of the paranormal entity that's been haunting my family in our new house?

The social media ban is not working in Australia. The social media ban will not work in Canada or the UK either. But all the governments can now claim the banned minors from the sites, so if your kid gets around their useless ban and unalives themselves or suffers mental issues from social media addiction, the government and social media companies will just blame you for not parenting. This isn't a ban to actually protect your kids. It's a clever way to prevent you from ever suing the social media companies.

Can’t overstate how much teenagers being annoying online is not a justified reason to defend identity based internet bans

Mamdani is the Democrats’ worst nightmare because he’s living proof that they simply aren’t doing their jobs.

Mamdani closed a $12B deficit in 132 days, fixed 100K potholes, secured millions for gig workers, fined corrupt landlords millions, raised snow workers to $30/hr, and violent crime hit historic lows. THIS IS WHAT A LEADER DOES!!

Had an interview for a volunteer position today involving school! It was online at 10 am which is waaaay too early on a Sunday and I was still half-asleep fumbling a bit at the beginning but finished well. We'll see what happens! Will report back, eventually.

I don't get anxious in interviews. Most of them are pretty standard. Just be honest, authentic, chill. It's a two-way opportunity to showcase yourself and ask questions. If you have an interview, you're already a very strong candidate. There's no magic hack, it's just natural.

The thing is, though, this is a lie. Canada DEMANDS assimilation, they just do it in a quiet, more polite fashion than the Yankees do. You are permitted the surface aspects of diversity, but not true difference, for that would imply autonomy.
Carney: Canada is a mosaic, not a melting pot. And this is the distinction that matters. Because a mosaic doesn't dissolve or blend its pieces. Each is stitched to each and all the pieces hold all. And the beauty is in the arrangement, not in the blending.

I would probably be more excited and happy about the busyness and fun of the World Cup in Vancouver if I thought we could take any of that energy and expand it past July 19 Can't wait to go back to cars on streets, no events, etc

Like I hate to be a killjoy but the #1 thing you can do to build community and joy is have more pedestrian zones and festivals etc, and we just aren't doing that, and actively fight efforts to do so.

Did you know Canadian universities are considered harder than American ones? Our classes are more detailed and intensive? Even our Grade 11 and 12 curriculum is like first-year uni for Americans? Anyone have any insight into this?

I would have guessed the other way around because US has such prestigious, competitive schools. It probably depends on the subject and university, but I'm still surprised! Makes me feel better about not understanding all my coursework...
