Sweet chestnut catkins are a great favourite of bees. Measuring between 10-20cm, they appear in late June and July, and hold the flowers of both sexes: male flowers above and female flowers in the lower portion. Keep an eye out for tree health: rhs.org.uk/science/help-our-…
